How about applying a little common sense to remedy the high gasoline prices?

In a WaPo article, Leaders Question Gasoline Prices, Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert, and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, plan to ask the President to order investigations into possible price gouging by the oil companies.

How ridiculous!  The price of gasoline is a direct reflection on the price of oil in the world market.  How can these people not know this?

Here's a better plan.  Let's all write/phone/fax/email our Senators and Congressmen, and demand they ask the President to repeal all the Federal taxes on gasoline.  While the price at the pump would still be higher than we like, it would be at least affordable.  And the results would be instantaneous.

How stupid do the Beltway Bozos think we are?  The real question, I suppose, is ....How stupid are the Beltway Bozos?
