According to an online Yahoo program, the Global Position System coordinates for the White House, probably one of the best-known publicly owned buildings in the world, are 38.898590 Latitude and -77.035971 Longitude. And since you know that, it's no big deal for the White House to know the coordinates for your front door, is it?
Some people think it is, and are upset over an army of some 140,000 workers hired in part with a $700 million taxpayer-funded contract to collect GPS readings for every front door in the nation.
The data collection, presented as preparation for the 2010 Census, is pinpointing with computer accuracy the locations and has raised considerable concern from privacy advocates who have questioned why the information is needed. The privacy advocates also are more than a little worried over what could be done with that information.
Enhancing the concerns is the Obama administration's recent decision to put White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel in an oversight role over the census, which will be used to determine a reapportionment of congressional seats and could be used to solidify a single political party's control over the nation, its budget, military and future.

Commerce Secretary Gary Locke recently told the Washington Post: "The census director reports to me, and, of course, I serve at the pleasure of the president." He added the White House told him "it has no interest in politicizing [the census]."
But at American Daily Review, blogger Douglas Gibbs had more than a few doubts.

"GPS coordinates of your front door will make it easier for the government to monitor you," he said. "The U.S. Census Bureau is simply an excuse – a harmless looking means of obtaining the front door coordinates. The creation of GPS coordinates for front doors has nothing to do with the census, in all honesty, no matter how much the United States government tries to convince you that it does."

He recalled wondering why, just weeks ago, the Obama administration announced its oversight of the census, "literally taking control of the census away from the Commerce Department."
He put that together with Obama's longtime push for national service.
"The Obamites, thirsty to serve their new messianic figure, have lost enough of their objectivity to be willingly recruited into such an insidious program like gaining these coordinates for the U.S. government. … I ask again, what would be the purpose of shooting the GPS coordinates of American doorways?" he wrote.
The answer he provided was alarming.
"Imagine, if you will, that there are a number of people in a neighborhood that could not find the addresses they are tasked with finding. They are not locals, maybe are unable to read a map, or perhaps do not have the time to pull out a map, and they need to find you with specific GPS coordinates. Their devices would lead them to your front door with these coordinates. Imagine a crisis is afoot, and martial law is put into place. U.S. troops need to round up particular folks," he wrote.
"Let's take this a step further. After all, with Barack Obama desiring to decrease the number of folks in the military, and with forces committed worldwide, we may not have sufficient military forces at home to deal with a rising national emergency. If the government decided to rely on foreign troops, perhaps United Nations personnel, most of which may not understand the street signs, much less know the lay of the land, they could use GPS devices to direct them to your front door," he wrote.
According to the Census Bureau's website, the GPS technology "allows us to reduce the amount of time spent by census workers in locating addresses. … Most importantly, by adding a GPS coordinate to each housing unit, the Census Bureau is able to ensure that residents are counted in the right location."
At Canada Free Press, commentator J.B. Williams said, "I can't resist the urge to question the authority and purpose behind such a BIG BROTHER initiative, when the official census itself is not due to be taken until 2010…
"No imagination is required to think up a whole laundry list of evil that could be done with a nationwide GPS grid of coordinate's markers painted on every private home across the country. But I was having trouble thinking up one good reason for it, even one legitimate use that would justify what must be a very expensive undertaking," he said.
"Why does the Obama administration need or want the latitude and longitude coordinates for every home in America? Why the rush to GPS paint every home in the next 90 days? Why must the marker be within 40 feet of every front door? For what possible purpose does the Fed need GPS coordinates for every home, and under what authority do they have the right? Census workers, whom I asked, had the same holy-crap look on their faces that I had by then," he wrote.
Then he cited the cooperative effort that the U.S. Census Bureau has reached with ACORN, the organization of community activists with which Obama worked.
"Obama's interest in an ACORN-controlled 2010 Census, for the purpose of redistricting to the advantage of Democrats before the 2010 mid-term elections, comes as NO shock from a regime known for their heavy handed Rules for Radicals political strategies. But what does this have to do with GPS marking every home in the country?" he questioned.
Ask those who have served military duty, he said. They are very familiar with the most common use of GPS target painting, and the rest might want to read books such as "The Precision Revolution: GPS and the Future of Aerial Warfare."
Online sources noted that Google Maps already probably has listed most homes in the nation.
"But the front door? Sounds like a jackboot convenience to me," said RightSoup.com.
Added Williams, "What I do know is this … Coincidences of this number and magnitude don't happen. … I also know that people had better start asking the right people the right questions and demanding answers fast. Begin with asking the mainstream press why there has been no public notification of the federal governments GPS marking your front door?"
A number of concerned citizens have contacted WND about the program, and repeatedly have cited warnings delivered by the GPS squad members that their failure to allow the readings would result in fines and possibly imprisonment under Title 13, which allows the census to be taken.
But repeatedly they've gotten no answers when asked what a GPS reading has to do with the number of people living at the home – which isn't supposed to be subject to questions until 2010 anyway.
One WND reader raised these questions to a local census office.
"What authority does the U.S. Census Bureau have for sending anyone to my front door in April of 2009 to mark it with GPS coordinates? This is unacceptable. The census is not due until 2010, and the usurpation of the census by the White House is unconstitutional. … This citizen will not answer census questions until the year they are due, and demands that my GPS coordinates be removed from all government records."
The census response?
"Address canvassing should conclude by mid-July. The operation will use new hand-held computers equipped with GPS to increase geographic accuracy. The ability to capture GPS coordinates for most of the nation's housing units will greatly reduce the number of geographic coding errors caused by using paper maps in previous counts. … During the address canvassing operation, census workers may ask to verify a housing structure's address and whether there are additional living quarters on the property. All census workers carry official government badges marked with just their name. You also may ask them for a picture ID from another source to confirm their identity. In addition, some census workers might carry a 'U. S. Census Workers' bag."
Another WND reader, from Washington state, reported he is having his attorney look into the legality of the GPS data collection and hopes to have enough support for a legal challenge.
The reader, whose name was withheld because of his concerns over repercussions, said a government home data collector ignored his no trespassing sign, and he was threatened by the collector for wanting to refuse to provide "census" information.
He said GPS mapping nowhere is authorized for census workers.
Census spokesman Stephen Buckner told WND the activity is, in fact, proper, and even necessary. There are homes being built and torn down constantly, and the census needs such information. Local building records and other government databases such as tax records would not suffice, he said.
"There are 140,000 workers walking every street of America," he told WND, in order to document 145 million addresses with GPS coordinates.
He assured WND that all such personal information is confidential, because employees of contractors doing the work are subject to a $250,000 fine or imprisonment for five years for revealing personal information. He also confirmed that the last case that was prosecuted under the law was nearly 50 years ago.
"We have to verify every single address," he said.

A Very Suspicious Influenza

I hope this doesn't come across as paranoid or conspiracy nuttish, but have you heard about the new combo swine/human/avian flu in Mexico? One article says, "The virus is an influenza A virus, carrying the designation H1N1. It contains DNA from avian, swine and human viruses, including elements from European and Asian swine viruses, said the CDC, which is already working on a vaccine."

The same article goes on to say that while at least 20 Mexicans have died from this virus, there may have been 40 other people who died from it as well. Plus, there are 1,000 "suspected cases" so far. Oh yes, and it seems to be killing people between the ages of 25 and 45.

Matt Drudge reports that the U.S. has no plan to close borders to Mexico.

So shall we look at this from a somewhat skeptical point of view?

1. Most influenzas affect the weakest among us: children and the elderly. This strain(s) seems to be deadliest to healthy adults. The Spanish flu which killed millions in the early 20th century, also affected this age group.

2. Mexico is on the verge of governmental collapse. What age group would be involved in fighting for or against the current government?

3. How would a 3 different deadly viruses combine in nature? Would such a deadly combo require human intervention? As I recall, the swine flu was transmitted from pigs to people in direct contact with them. Likewise, the bird flu was only transmitted to people in direct contact with the fowl. Apparently, none of the people diagnosed thus far with this virus has been in contact with either pig or fowl.

4. If, this virus is indeed the beginning of a pandemic, as the numerous reports suggest, why wouldn't the U.S. close our southern borders to protect its citizens?

5. This is very suspicious to me. If this story is true, then the virus would appear to me to be for the purpose of age-specific population control. Or, even more sneaky, a preventative vaccination allegedly developed specific to this virus combo, could contain God knows what, and the governments could mandate vaccination of entire populations.

I'm keeping a close eye on this one. Anyone who has ever trusted the Mexican government or the World Health Organization is an idiot, and now, sad to say, I don't trust my own government at all.

East Coast Disconnect

Peggy Noonan wrote a most bizarre piece this week, entitled Goodbye Bland Affluence. It appears that Peggy is bemoaning that people are choosing to "...give up credit cards, satellite television, high-tech toys and restaurant dining ... to become more self sufficient, and be 21st century homesteaders, raising pigs and chickens, planning a garden and installing a wood furnace."

Peggy seems to think that due to the economy, people will leave the cities, returning to the countryside to live a life of canning produce, working in gardens, raising animals, and their homes will no longer be showpieces, but rather "frayed" looking. What pomposity!

Are the cities the only places worth living? I think not. I wouldn't live in a city for any reason. Why would you want people always nearby. Other houses 10 feet away from your house would sure put a damper on the fun of the traditional howling at the full moon. Can you imagine what the neighbors would think and do (call 911) if they heard a family howling. I can't see another house from my house, and that's the way I like it.

Because we grow our own food, does that make us poor? Does that make us uneducated? Does that make us in any way inferior to the poor schmucks who live in a place more resembling an ant farm, and are completely dependent on strangers to provide food, shelter and clothing for them. Quite the contrary to my mind.

After I read Noonan's article I had my husband read it. His reaction was the same as mine. Where's the news here? We've been self-sufficient for almost 20 years. We chose to raise our child in the country, and we definitely didn't need things like gymboree. (which is another story, but bottom line, if a 2 year old can't figure out how to do a somersault, the kid has bigger problems than not being able to do a somersault.)

The fascinating part of this piece by Noonan is her prediction that many people will leave NYC in search of more "authenticity" in their lives. It would seem to be more accurate that people will at some point leave NYC in search of food and affordable housing.

I'm glad to be ahead of the game, Peggy. It's gonna be real interesting to watch people who think food originates at the grocery store find out what hard work is involved in producing the food they presently take for granted. And God help them if it ever gets to the point we have to spin and sew to make our own clothes.

Oh, and Peggy, by the way, it is possible to live in the country, raise your own food, teach your children at home, take care of livestock, and still have a house that is a showpiece, and doesn't look the least bit frayed.

Investment?!?! Sheesh, why didn't I think of that??

In an article entitled "Fear and Greed Have Sales of Guns and Ammo Shooting Up", the increase in the purchase of guns and ammunition is accredited to, "...stocking up... in anticipation of new gun-control laws, while others say they're worried about deteriorating public safety as the economy worsens.....But it's also clear that part of the gun-buying rally is driven by people ... who are buying weapons the way others invest in a hot stock."

Well, dadgummit! Here I've been patiently explaining to people that the possibility of severe gun control laws is looming on the horizon, that as conditions break down in the country, people will turn feral, and, of course, you never know what the Feds have up their sleeves.

And, now I realize, all I had to say was, "Oh that AR? It's just an investment."

Note to self: Henceforth, "It's just an investment."

Federal agency warns of radicals on right

The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement officials about a rise in "rightwing extremist activity," saying the economic recession, the election of America's first black president and the return of a few disgruntled war veterans could swell the ranks of white-power militias.

A footnote attached to the report by the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines "rightwing extremism in the United States" as including not just racist or hate groups, but also groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority.

"It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single-issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration," the warning says.

The White House has distanced itself from the analysis. When asked for comment on its contents, White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said, "The President is focused not on politics but rather taking the steps necessary to protect all Americans from the threat of violence and terrorism regardless of its origins. He also believes those who serve represent the best of this country, and he will continue to ensure that our veterans receive the respect and benefits they have earned."

The nine-page document was sent to police and sheriff's departments across the United States on April 7 under the headline, "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment."

It says the federal government "will be working with its state and local partners over the next several months" to gather information on "rightwing extremist activity in the United States."

The joint federal-state activities will have "a particular emphasis" on the causes of "rightwing extremist radicalization."

Homeland Security spokeswoman Sara Kuban said the report is one in an ongoing series of assessments by the department to "facilitate a greater understanding of the phenomenon of violent radicalization in the U.S."

The report, which was first disclosed to the public by nationally syndicated radio host Roger Hedgecock, makes clear that the Homeland Security Department does not have "specific information that domestic rightwing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence."It warns that fringe organizations are gaining recruits, but it provides no numbers.

The report says extremist groups have used President Obama as a recruiting tool.

"Most statements by rightwing extremists have been rhetorical, expressing concerns about the election of the first African American president, but stopping short of calls for violent action," the report says. "In two instances in the run-up to the election, extremists appeared to be in the early planning stages of some threatening activity targeting the Democratic nominee, but law enforcement interceded."

When asked about this passage, Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said, "We are concerned about anybody who will try to harm or plan to harm any one of our protectees. We don't have the luxury to focus on one particular group at the exclusion of others."

Congressional debates about immigration and gun control also make extremist groups suspicious and give them a rallying cry, the report says.

"It is unclear if either bill will be passed into law; nonetheless, a correlation may exist between the potential passage of gun control legislation and increased hoarding of ammunition, weapons stockpiling, and paramilitary training activities among rightwing extremists," the report said.

The FBI was quoted Monday as saying that, since November, more than 7 million people have applied for criminal background checks in order to buy weapons.

The Homeland Security report added: "Over the past five years, various rightwing extremists, including militias and white supremacists, have adopted the immigration issue as a call to action, rallying point, and recruiting tool."

The report could signify a change in emphasis for Homeland Security under former Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano. A German magazine quoted Ms. Napolitano as rebranding "terrorism" as "man-made disasters." Since its inception in 2003, the department has focused primarily on radicalization of Muslims and the prospect of homegrown Islamist terrorism.

Ms. Kuban said, however, that the department had published reports on left-wing radicalization as well, though she could not name one.

"These types of reports are published all the time. There have actually been some done on the other end of the spectrum, left-wing," Ms. Kuban said.

A similar headline was used in a report issued in January, Ms. Kuban said, although she could not provide the content of the headline.

Ms. Kuban said she did not know how long the new report had been in the making.

"The purpose of the report is to identify risk. This is nothing unusual," said Ms. Kuban, who added that the Homeland Security Department did this "to prevent another Tim McVeigh from ever happening again."

The Homeland Security assessment specifically says that "rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat."

Jerry Newberry, director of communications for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, said the vast majority of veterans are patriotic citizens who would not join anti-government militias.

"As far as our military members go, I think that the military is a melting pot of society. So you might get a few, a fractional few, who are going to be attracted by militia groups and other right-wing extremists," he said.

"We have to remember that the people serving in our military are volunteers, they do it because they love their country, and they believe in what our country stands for," he said. "They spent their time in the military defending our Constitution, so the vast majority of them would be repulsed by the hate groups discussed in this report."

The Homeland Security report cited a 2008 FBI report that noted that a small number of returning military veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have joined extremist groups.

The FBI report said that from October 2001 through May 2008 "a minuscule" number of veterans, 203 out of 23,000, had joined groups such as the Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Nations, the National Socialist Movement, the Creativity Movement, the National Alliance and some skinhead groups.

"Although the white supremacist movement is of concern to the FBI, our assessment shows that only a very small number of people with prior military experience may have an affiliation with supremacist groups," FBI spokesman Richard Kolko said Monday when asked about the FBI report.

A 2006 report from the Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization that monitors white supremacists like the Klan, said that white-power groups had an interest in the kind of training the military provides.

Mark Potok, director of the center's intelligence project, said the Homeland Security report "confirms that white supremacists are interested in the military. There is some concern, and there should be, about returning veterans, one need only think of the example of Timothy McVeigh, who was in the first Iraq war."

Mr. Potok added that he was generally pleased with the report.

"Basically, the report tracks fairly closely with what we have been saying for some time now. They mention us a couple of times, though not by name," he said.

Wow! So..... if an American citizen believes:

In limited federal government

That our laws should be enforced (i.e. immigration)

That abortion is murder

That the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution means what it says

then, obviously, that person must be a member of some rightwing extremist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Nations, the National Socialist Movement, the Creativity Movement, the National Alliance and some skinhead groups.

OK. This is scary. Guess I'd better go inventory my ammo and weapons.

President Obama returns this week from his whirlwind, “It’s good to be me” tour through continental Europe and Asia. Many here stateside are beginning to whisper that Obama is the most arrogant leader this country has seen in a generation. He holds Americans and the Constitution in utter contempt.

He fires private sector CEO’s, wages class warfare on taxpayers (the top 1% income earners pay 40% of all federal income taxes, and the bottom 50% pay a minuscule 3%), and covets open-ended power to spend taxpayers money without check that would have made Gosplaners in the Soviet Union green with envy. He turns the Constitution on its head by describing the payment of taxes as a “patriotic duty” and staggering government spending as the beneficence of his band of Platonic Guardians. He has erased the vital distinction between public and private.

Mr. Obama has taken Narcissus to a new level. He is mesmerized by his own words. He wields no delusions of his own grandeur. However, when he goes abroad he can't be effacing enough for the bows and scraping to those luminaries around him. Remember the King of Saudia Arabia, to whom our President gave obeisance, is basica lly the leader of the Wahhabi branch of Islam. Bowing to this king signals submission to Islam. Indeed, “Islam” means “submission”. And in Saudi Arabia that means the suppression of Christianity or Judaism. President Obama has apologized for the United States history with Native Americans and blacks. He gazes at radical Islam with rose-colored glasses.

Are you getting this picture? Is it becoming clearer exactly what is beginning to happen to our beloved America?

And to compound matters, our President now craves the elimina tion of nuclear weapons. Does he not remember that atomic bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki saved millions of both American and Japanese lives and brought a terrible war to an instant conclusion? Does he not know of the history of arms control cheating by closed and despotic nations, like the Soviet Union, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Libya, Iraq, and otherwise. Does he not know that the elimination of nuclear weapons immediately strengthens nations with massive land armies like China’s People’s Liberation Army?

Mr. Obama’s national security follies are matched by his contempt for the Constitution which he is pledged to defend and support.

He has claimed Czar-like powers to detain indefinitely both citizens and non-citizens without accusation or trial or access to courts on his say-so alone by dispatching them to Bagram prison in Afghanistan. There, he has authorized procedures for determining who should be detained as “enemy combatants" that would be more fitting if adopted by Iran’s Mullahs.

The initial judgment is made “in the field.” It is reviewed within 75 days, and then at six month intervals. The reviewing body is the Unlawful Enemy Combatant Review Board (UECRB), a panel of three commissioned officers. It examines “all relevant informatio n reasonably available.” The detainee has no access to a personal representative or lawyer. He has no access to the government’s evidence. He has no opportunity to respond in person. He is limited to submitting a written statement without knowledge of either his accusers or the allegations that must be rebutted.

There are many terms that might describe Bagram procedures, but due process of law is not one of them. The Executive Branch decrees that “enemy combatant” status justifies detention, enfo rces the decree through executive detentions, and decides whether its enforcement decisions are correct. That combination was what the Founding Fathers decried as the “very definition of tyranny” in The Federalist 47.

In addition, the dispositive evidence and accusers are secret; and, the deciders are military persons the detainee is accused of desiring to kill, which may imbalance their judgments. It is no surprise that United States District Judge John H. Bates on April 2 held the procedures unconstitutiona in Fadi al Maqaleh v. Gates.

He has invoked state secrets to deny remedies to individual victims of constitutional wrongdoing, including torture or assassination. He has claimed the right to pick and choose which laws to enforce based on political convenience, and evaded the accountability that comes with a presidential pardon. He has frustrated congressional oversight by the invocation of executive privilege.

In the Senate, he voted against the Military Commissions Act of 2006 as running roughshod over constitutional rights. In the White House, he finds nothing objectionable about the Act’s crowning him with monarch-like authorities. He has enlisted 800,000 state and local law enforcement officers to spy on Americans under the beguiling umbrella as “fusion centers,” while the murder clearance rate remains a dismal 61%.

Alex de Tocqueville, writing in Democracy in America , forecast a world in which Russia and the United States would dominate. But he sharply distinguished between how the two would assert their influence:

“[T]he conquests of the American are made with the plowshare of the laborer, those of the Russian with the sword of the soldier.

“To attain his goal, the first relies on personal interest and allows the force and reason of individuals to act without directing them. The second in a way concentrates all the power of society in one man,

“The one has freedom for his principle means of action; the other servitude.”

That distinction is rapidly diminishing to the disadvantage of the United States under President Obama.

Apparently, the Somali pirates have captured yet another ship, this time a United States -flagged cargo ship along with its crew of 20 Americans in the Gulf of Aden.

The White House press secretary said that the White House was monitoring the incident closely and "assessing a course of action."

It should be interesting to see how our comrade president handles this one.

Apparently, "the convoys were carrying Fajr-3 rockets, which have a range of more than 40 miles (65 kilometres), and were split into sections to be smuggled through tunnels into Gaza from Egypt."

What a terrific leader Israel has in Netanyahu. That we could only be so blessed.

Breitbart reports that the National Intelligence (?) Director, Dennis Blair testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee that "some Guantanamo inmates may be released on US soil and receive assistance to return to society."

At the same time, Janet Napolitano, Head of Homeland Security, "turned down an offer for more money to fight crime along the U.S.'s southern border, saying she'll pay for it with the funds she has."

Now, here's my question. If the powers that be in D.C. are going to release known terrorists (which means: people who want to kill us simply because we exist) into the general population AND on the dime of the American taxpayer (welfare, food stamps, etc.), why worry about the border?

After reading the Drudge Report this morning, there was just so much fodder for blogging that I didn't even know where to begin. I learned, not at all to my surprise that our beloved Secy of State has blamed the United States for Mexico's problems with the drug cartels. Not to worry, though, because the equally patriotic and brilliant Janet Napolitano, the head of Homeland Security (that should be enough to scare the heck out of you) is confident "she" has enough money for the border wars. Ya know, building that fence would have been a lot easier, but hey! Let's just do this the hard and bloody way.

Anyway, suddenly I remembered an email I received a few days ago, and it seems appropriate to post it here. Enjoy!

I have to admit it. My liberal friends were right. They told me if I
voted for McCain, the nation's Hope would deteriorate, and sure enough
there has been a 20 point drop in the Consumer Confidence Index since
the election, reaching a lower point than any time during the Bush
administration.

They told me if I voted for McCain, the US would become more deeply
embroiled in the Middle East, and sure enough tens of thousands of
additional troops are scheduled to be deployed into Afghanistan.

They told me if I voted for McCain, that the economy would get worse and
sure enough unemployment is approaching 8.8% and the new stimulus
packages implemented recently have sent the stock market lower than at
any time since 9-11.

They told me if I voted for McCain, we would see more "crooks" in high
ranking positions in Federal government and sure enough, several recent
cabinet nominees and Senate appointments revealed resumes of bribery and
tax fraud.

Well I ignored my Democrat friends in November and voted for McCain. And
they were right... all of their predictions have come true.

Got Chicken? Got Beef? Got Milk? Enjoy It While You Can

In a staff column posted today at Townhall, entitled EPA Targets Cows, Grows Government, it seems that the EPA is proposing to tax greenhouse gases, which are gases that are naturally produced. The article explains that:

... they (the EPA) propose to tax agriculture for greenhouse emissions. For smaller animals like hogs, the tax would be $20 per year. For the largest animals, the tax would be over $100 per year.

It goes on to say that:

The Department of Agriculture, to its credit, came out with a statement that taxing family farms would cause undue hardship leading to failure; few family farms have financial room for additional taxes.

OK. As a small farmer/rancher, beef producer and occasional pork producer, let me ask you a few questions.

1. Do you like pork (the 4 legged variety not the D.C. type)?

2. Do you enjoy a glass of milk, a bit of butter, cream, or ice cream?

3. Do you eat beef?

4. Do you eat chicken?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions, then you better start raising cain with you elected representatives.

Pork is the most expensive meat to raise. It is labor intensive. There is a reason why the phrase "eats like a pig" came into being. Pigs eat. A lot. Now when a person raises pigs naturally like I do, it really becomes labor intensive. Here's why. Now remember, I raise a quality product. When raising pigs, first I must have a milk goat, which I hand-milk twice a day. I also must have chopped corn, because I feed the little buggers goat milk and chopped corn, twice a day, for the first 4 months of their lives. It gets them off to a healthy start. Afterwards, they are fed chopped corn twice a day and run around the pastures and woodlots eating nuts, worms, and whatever else pigs eat naturally. Since the brilliant powers that be seem to think that using corn to run cars is the greatest idea since jelly beans, the price of corn has skyrocketed. Oh, there is a lot, and I mean A LOT more corn being produced, but it is neither used nor priced as feed corn. That is why the price of pork is already outrageous. You add another $20 per animal in taxes (plus whatever the tax is on the goat), and there won't be many producers who can afford to raise pork and there won't be many people who will be able to afford to buy it.

Our main business is producing grass-fed beef. Most years this is no big deal. However, the last few years it has been pretty dry and during the winter we must feed hay. When hay was $20 per big round bale, that was fine. During drought conditions, the cost of hay can increase up to $100 per round bale. Then, every now and then you have to call the vet out, because of, well.... it could be anything: a cow got wire wrapped around a leg, stuck in the mud somewhere, or a calving gone dreadfully wrong. Any of those are big vet bills. Even with a quality, in-demand product like chem-free grass-fed beef, we don't make a ton of $$ raising them. Again, you add $100 per year per animal, and it is cost-prohibitive to raise them.

Chickens are not too bad to raise, but they are totally stupid. And chickens die. I've had one that died laying an egg, although, granted, it was really a HUGE egg. The beautiful red-tail hawks, just love chicken too. And don't forget about coyotes and dogs passing through for a little free food and sport. Chicken feed, like all other feed, due to the aforementioned use of corn for fuel, again makes it almost cost prohibitive to raise them, and that's without the proposed EPA taxes.

So, here's my question. Do you like to eat? If so, will you be able to afford to buy food when all of the small, independent producers are out of business, and all food production is controlled by a few huge agribusiness corporations?

It seems to me that we are talking population control here. When food crops are grown but their use is diverted to fuel production, that leads to starvation. Which leads to riots. Which leads to martial law. Which leads to .... well.... you can see where this all leads.

Please, get on the horn, write letters, or send emails to the EPA, your elected representatives, anyone you can think of, and let's try to shut this insane idea down before it takes root.

The US a 3rd World Country?

The following is a cross-post of my comment to Paul Jacob's post entitled From Oz to Obama.

I've traveled the world. The USA is the only non-3rd world country. Yes, there are some countries that are very nice, but there are none to compare with the conveniences and prosperity the majority of Americans have. Even our poor would be considered wealthy if transplanted to just about anywhere else in the world. We do have the best way of life on the planet.

Or we did.

As a Texan, I can see signs in even the small towns, that we are quickly sliding into 3rd world status. Laws seem to apply only to law-abiding American citizens. Illegals, elected officials, and people and entities who support those elected officials, apparently do not have to abide by any of our laws, and all is forgiven, and this goes all the way to the place where "the buck stops".

The violence that most of the media ignores in the so-called country to our south, is spreading across the border at an astounding rate, although it apparently isn't considered newsworthy by our illustrious media. Nor does the current Administration appear to see a problem with drug cartels encroaching into American cities with their own special brand of justice and punishment. To the contrary, it seems that the Speaker of the House is ready to make all the illegals legal and declare Immigration and Customs Enforcement unconstitutional.

Remember when Walmart prided itself on selling American-made goods? Try and find American-made goods at Walmart now. Another treat at Walmart, at least in my area, is that the signs, credit card machines, and even the music playing in the store, are all in Spanish. And I don't live anywhere near the southern border. But, my gosh, what a business their customer service desk is doing wiring money to Mexico. Don't even try to exchange something on a Friday. Please don't get me wrong, I love the convenience of Walmart: one stop shopping. What I hate is poor service, inferior goods, and everything being in Spanish. Last time I checked, English was the language of the USA.

Our country has been sold out by our very own elected officials. They are now trying to totally destroy what is left of our economy. Citizens who have spent their entire lives living frugally to ensure they had funds to support them in retirement, are wishing they had taken that European vacation that they didn't take, so they could put more money towards their retirement. It is doubtful that those of us on the younger end of the Baby Boomers will ever be able to retire. Those Boomers that have already retired, have already lost at least 70% of their net worth, all courtesy of the US government and our elected officials.

So, while clicking our heels together and wishing we could go home isn't an option for us like it was for Dorothy, a nice clean sweep inside the Beltway, along with a thorough scrubbing of nonsensical laws and policies would go a long way in curing the waking nightmare in which we presently find ourselves.

As I do almost every morning, this morning I was perusing the Drudge Report , and it hit me, "What a lot of stupid so-called news!" Following down that path, I wonder why anyone thinks people care about most of this "fluff" masquerading as "news." In fact, I am somewhat at a loss to find much actual "news" in the news.

So, following is a brief run-through of what is posing as news today in America.

1. Clint Eastwood is directing a film about the ungrateful, America-hating, Nelson Mandela, who was saved from a lifetime in prison by American intervention. Not a film I will see anyway, and hardly "news."

2. The UAW is on a national strike against GM for the first time in 37 years. Seems like a stupid decision to me, but this actually is "news."

3. Ok. Here's a good one: Democracy in retreat around the world; Reports points to Russia and Iran. Right, Russia and Iran. Long considered bastions of democracy. Give me a break.

4. Clintons kill negative GQ story; threatened access to Bill. They could have just stopped at Clintons kill. Move along. No news here.

5. Feds crack China-U.S. Steriods connection. Actual news. Yea!

6. Missile base for sale. This is actually a real estate ad; not news, but pretty interesting.

7. Burma's generals set for showdown with monks. Let's see: military v. monks. I can predict how this will turn out. At that point it will be "news", but not before.

8. And now, its time to wrap this up with my personal fave example of non-news: Global Poll: Majority wants action on climate change. So, "polls" are news, and people think they can change the weather. That's not news. That's just stupid.

Isn't there just something intrinsically wrong, when the Iranian president, who advocates the destruction of this country,is welcomed to speak at Columbia University, while a true American patriot like Chris Simcox is shouted down after being invited to speak at the same University?

What does it say for us as a country, when we routinely cheer the bad guys who hate us, and scorn those among us whose lives are dedicated to preserving our country?

That Ahmadinejad is even allowed into the United States is mind boggling. That he would be allowed to speak anywhere, or go anywhere other than the United Nations, is unfathomable.

Here's my question. Is anybody at the controls, and if so, what on earth are they thinking?

"Maybe it was picking up again," Siemens thought and sent deputies to check it out.

"Now, it's paid off," he said.

Deputies didn't find that drophouse, but they stopped a vehicle hauling nine undocumented immigrants to Nevada. The driver then pointed deputies to a drophouse in Tempe, where 11 people were being held.

Criminals fear Sheriff's Department

From the El Paso Times, "some Chaparral residents reportedly are staying home and not sending their children to school after a raid Monday by the Otero County (N.M.) Sheriff's Department ended with parents and children being deported to Mexico."

An (illegal) immigrant advocate with Border Network for Human Rights said the raids are "paralyzing the community" and "There is a lot of fear right now...they don't go out."

Let's review this:

1. The Sheriff's Department is doing their job of enforcing our laws.

2. This causes fear among law-breakers.

How to catch a wild hog (and clueless people too)

There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question.

He asked, " Do you know how to catch wild pigs?"

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke.

"You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. the pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run
around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man told the professor that it is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as
supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms- just a little at a
time. (One should always remember "There is no such thing as a free lunch"; and "You can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.)

This has so much meaning and seems to be what's going on in this country today....... If you, also, see all of the government "help" as a problem, and the end, for the future of democracy in America, please send it on.

There is leadership in the GOP. Unfortunately, the grass-roots Republicans think the party is marching to the left, and reject that leadership. That same leadership is ignoring the support for Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo, both of whom have strong support from GOP faithful. As I've said in many ways for many moons, when a party no longer represents its members, there isn't going to be any support for its candidates.

Labor Day Musings

I'm wondering how many more Labor Days will be holidays for Americans? Think about it. Soon, everyday might be a work holiday for American citizens. Our jobs are being outsourced either overseas or the positions are filled by cheap and illegal imported labor. Our public schools are being dumbed-down to the point of worthlessness by our free education (at our expense, of course) of children of people who are illegally in this country, and apparently by teachers who somehow got hired without being able to speak English. It also seems that our government refuses to comply with the demand of American citizens that our laws be enforced. Read my two news selections for the day. You might want to have a shot of Jack Daniels handy.

President Bush has moved 20% of ICE agents out of the agency so they can't enforce the law.

But the US Border Patrol Union, Local 2544, is bluntly warning Americans: "The White House will refuse to secure the borders unless they get another amnesty program for millions of illegal aliens (don't be fooled by their "estimates" of 12-20 million, because they have no idea how many are really here).

LOOK OUT!!

Well, this Labor Day weekend, will apparently mark the beginning of 100 Mexican trucking companies and their piece of shit trucks and their unregulated drivers having full access to any road in America. Like I-35 isn't scary enough? This is yet another example of laws and regulations being applied selectively: that would be, against American citizens. American truckers are routinely stopped by the highway patrol. Their trucks are weighed, tires and brakes checked. Their records are reviewed to make sure they have not exceeded the allowed driving time. And now, American truckers will still be subject to this regulation, but not the Mexican trucks and truckers. They will be free to cross America, on any road, in a truck of any condition, driven by drivers who may or may not be able to read signs in English, or know how to drive in the United States, and without any limitation whatsoever on the number of hours they may drive. Shall I even mention the whole "do they have insurance?" aspect?

If you have been unaware of this issue, that some of us have been fighting for ages, now is the time to get on the phone to your elected representatives and tell them what you think about it.

Letters from WWII

I have a box of letters from WWII that were written by my mother, her sisters, and parents to her brother who was in the war.

The letters cover a period of 3 years, and provide an amazing insight to life "at home" during the war.

The chatty, silly things mentioned by my always cool and dignified mother just blow me away. I must laugh that she was at one time just another nutty teenage girl.

One of the funniest things was somewhat of a mystery for about 3 months of letters. No matter who wrote a letter during this time, each and every person wrote:

"Did you hear about the ducks?" or

"Can you believe it about the ducks?"

Always something about the ducks.

I was so curious what the deal was with the ducks, and of course, there was no one alive to ask.

Finally.... finally, there was a letter from the youngest child in the family. It went something like this:

Dear Brother,

How are you? I am fine. Did you hear about my ducks? I have 56 ducks in the backyard.......

Mystery solved, but the duck story was not quite over.

For the rest of the year, my grandmother's letters would periodically mention that so and so came for Sunday lunch, and they "fixed" two ducks... or relatives were having company from out of town and came over to get some ducks.

I asked my last surviving great-aunt if she remembered 1944 as the "year of the duck", and told her about the letters. She didn't remember, but certainly enjoyed the story. She did say that meat was expensive and considered a treat during the war years. This is the same aunt who gave up putting sugar in her coffee in 1942 to help the war effort.

I suppose my point in this, is that the last global war we were in, whether at home or in the military, the entire population was engaged, and on a war footing. Everyone sacrificed what they, just coming out of the Great Depression, considered luxuries. People at home rolled bandages for the Red Cross, and knitted socks for the troops. Everyone with a patch of ground, planted their own Victory Gardens, which provided their families with fresh vegetables. Many people then, even in the cities, still had a cow or goat in the backyard for milk, and chickens in the coop for eggs and Sunday dinner. Everyone was engaged, patriotic, and losing the war was not an option.

If there is anything I would fault the President on regarding the global war on terror, it is his telling us to go shopping and just live our lives, rather than putting this country on a war footing, that actually impacted our lives.

The PR value of mandatory organization of neighborhood civil defense training, and many of the other volunteer programs from WWII would have made a tremendous difference in the perception of this war by the average American citizen.

Will 2008 be the election year of the Amazon Women?It seems very strange to me that while the male Democratic candidates seem to be becoming more... well... girly..., their wives seem to be the ones with.... well.... the balls. Ahem.

Are Obama and Edwards afraid to confront the H-word? If so, that in itself is enough to relegate them to a footnote (if even that) in the history books. If these men cannot level their own attacks against an opponent, and must hide behind their wives, how and why on Earth would we entrust either of them with the protection of our country?

Of course, all of this could be avoided if the Democrats actually had a plan for the future, and campaigned on that. They would lose the election, but at least they would be addressing the issues and being honest and forthright with the American people, rather than relying on the typical Democratic campaign tactic of personal attacks.

I could care less whether a person running for President is black, white, or purple; male or female matters squat.

When voting for the President of the United States, the most powerful person in the world, what we should be looking at are: character, beliefs, morals, insight, knowledge, goals for the future together with a plan to achieve same, and an unshaken belief that this is the best country in the world.

The Color of Crime

Pat Buchanan has good piece with some handy stats at Townhall, entitled "The Color of Crime." The statistics, which somehow never seem to make it to the major networks, indicate that most crime against blacks is committed by blacks,and most crime against whites is also committed by blacks. Interesting, and like I said, some handy statistics.

Here's the thing. The major media always hypes the white prejudice angle. They are sooo decades behind the curve. Since the 1960's, whites have been conditioned to not be prejudiced against blacks. It was simply socially unacceptable, as evidenced by whites being forbidden by law to not allow blacks into certain communities, clubs, organizations, etc. Blacks, on the other hand, cling to the antiquated NAACP, there are black only music awards, scholorships for blacks only, Affirmative Action programs which many times cause unqualified blacks to be promoted over a well qualified "other."

My conclusion is that whites are not prejudice, but are certainly resentful of all the special treatment something like 9% of the population gets. However, that resentment does not manifest itself in crime against blacks by whites.

However, Mexicans and blacks traditionally do not get along well, as evidenced by the demise of the black gangs in South Los Angeles and the rise of the Mexican gangs there.

Just something to think about.

"About 10 officers from the Newark police department, Essex County Prosecutor's office and Immigration and Customs Enforcement made the arrest at about 3 a.m., prosecutors said."

that this guy and his brother are yet more illegal aliens connected to these murders.

Elvira Arellano, an illegal alien, who, as you might recall, was holed up inside a Methodist Church in Chicago for months, has been deported. The church pastor said,

"She has been deported. She is free in Tijuana... She is in good spirits. She is ready to continue the struggle against the separation of families from the other side of the border."

This criminal apparently first appeared in Washington state in 1997, and she was quickly caught and deported. However, in 2000, she again returned illegally, and located in Illinois, "taking a job cleaning planes at O'Hare Intl. Airport." (I'm not even going to get into the whole security issue of an illegal with false documentation having security clearance at O'Hare)

She was "convicted of working under a false Social Security number" a year ago, and has been taking "refuge" in the church ever since.

Now, according to the press, she is not just an illegal alien and felon (identity theft, false Social Security Number), but she is an "activist."

Wow! What a transition! I guess if you are an "activist" nothing else matters.

I sure hope ICE will start rounding up and deporting more of these "activists."

If you or I had committed identity theft, or tried to work with a false Social Security Number, we would be in prison. Whatever happened to equal treatment under the laws? Citizens are imprisoned while illegal aliens are set free? Hmmm....

In a somewhat related story, our President is meeting with the President of Mexico and the Prime Minister of Canada to discuss the Security & Prosperity Partnership, a/k/a by some: the North American Union. An interesting tidbit is: "The U.S. government has been working on a major aid package to help Calderon (President of Mexico) fight drug trafficking in Mexico. The deal may be announced in part or in whole at the summit."

Well, how about that? Isn't it enough we have taken in 20-50 million of their people, given them free health care, all sorts of welfare, provided education for their children, allowed them to violate our laws at the expense of American taxpayers, kill our people, and basically destroy our wayy of life? Now we are going to pay big bucks to the Mexican government to fight drug trafficking?

Hello!! Mexico is one of the richest countries in the world!! They have all sorts of oil and gas revenue, and they don't fritter it away on anything like entitlements. They don't need our money for anything. What is this payment really about?

That money would be better spent securing our borders. Then we wouldn't need to pay Mexico to try to keep their drug runners from entering our country.

Mr. President!! Send the money to me!! With the help of millions of patriotic Americans who would flood to the border to defend our country from invasion, I can get that border secured in about a week!!!

The Captain has a terrific post this morning referring to John Edwards, a/k/a The Breck Girl, as an "Empty Suit."
Actually, I beg to differ with the Captain a bit on this characterization.

Edwards is no different from the run-of-the-mill Democrats we have know the last say, 40 years or so. He opens his mouth and the words flow out. He fabricates whatever is necessary to please each particular audience. Those words do not have to make sense, nor can they hold up to the slightest bit of dissection (or thought), but they are spewed so easily, so confidently, many people come away thinking that guy sure knew what he was talking about. True, they could not explain it to you, but that guy sure is smart.

Edwards is wholly unqualified for running anything but a law firm, and no doubt he would excel in that. However, we need a President who will tell it like it is, and who has a firm grasp of the big picture.

Wait a minute! We already have a President like that. The scary part is that I see no one in the Democratic ranks I would trust with anything, and the thought of one of the current Democratic candidates being entrusted with the safety and security of my country, is enough to make my blood run cold.

Hurricanes & Plates

Hurricane season again. It happens every year. Hurricane Dean sounds like it could build up to something big and nasty. However, a hurricane doesn't need to be all that strong to cause all sorts of problems. Just knocking out the power for a while is awful, especially in the summer... in the Caribbean... or in the southern United States.

The tectonic plates are obviously on the move, as evidenced by earthquakes in the Aleutian Islands, Utah, the Pacific Ocean, and Peru. If you click here, you can see all the recent earthquake activty. Looks to me like there's a pattern. Of course, that area is part of the Pacific Rim of Fire, so it should not be unexpected.

Weather is weather. It is what it is. Rarely are the weather forecasters correct even 24 hours ahead of time. The weather cannot be controlled.

Likewise the shiftings and realigning of the earth's plates. They are in constant flux. It is what it is. It happens.

All we can do about crazy weather or natural disasters is try to help those in need following the event. And if we are the ones in need, we sure hope there will be people willing to help us.

A Brilliant Idea from a Catholic Bishop in the Netherlands

There is apparently a Catholic biship, Tiny Muskens, in the Netherlands who belives that if Christians used the name Allah rather than God, it would help pave a peaceful coexistance between Muslims and Christians.

Of course, if all the Christians converted to Islam, substituted Mohammed the Pedophile for the perfect Christ our Lord, substituted sharia law for our democratic republic, then....

(a) We would have denied our Lord,
(b) We would become second class citizens, living our lives fully dependent on not pissing off the ruling imams (nothing like the threat of being beheaded with a dull knife to keep a person in line),
c) We would have given up all rights as we know them,
d) We would have given up our country and way of life, as well as the future of our descendants, without any fight whatsoever.

Yeh. Sounds like a perfect solution (I'm being facetious), although if put to a vote, it would probably pass by a landslide (no pun intended) in San Francisco.

The Washington Post reports that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps will be designated as a global terrorist.

The designation of the Revolutionary Guard will be made under Executive Order 13224, which President Bush signed two weeks after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks to obstruct terrorist funding. It authorizes the United States to identify individuals, businesses, charities and extremist groups engaged in terrorist activities. The Revolutionary Guard would be the first national military branch included on the list, U.S. officials said -- a highly unusual move because it is part of a government, rather than a typical non-state terrorist organization.

The order allows the United States to block the assets of terrorists and to disrupt operations by foreign businesses that "provide support, services or assistance to, or otherwise associate with, terrorists."

The move reflects escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran over issues including Iraq and Iran's nuclear ambitions. Iran has been on the State Department's list of state sponsors of terrorism since 1984, but in May the two countries began their first formal one-on-one dialogue in 28 years with a meeting of diplomats in Baghdad.

The main goal of the new designation is to clamp down on the Revolutionary Guard's vast business network, as well as on foreign companies conducting business linked to the military unit and its personnel. The administration plans to list many of the Revolutionary Guard's financial operations.

"Anyone doing business with these people will have to reevaluate their actions immediately," said a U.S. official familiar with the plan who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the decision has not been announced. "It increases the risks of people who have until now ignored the growing list of sanctions against the Iranians. It makes clear to everyone who the IRGC and their related businesses really are. It removes the excuses for doing business with these people."

I had just a few minutes of down-time, and checked out one of my fave blogs, Seaspook's Rants. Read his post about the new Majority-Minority, yet another aberration created by the new god called diversity.

In Texas, even though the majority of the people are Hispanic, they still are considered the minority. That's not fair! They need to be the ones paying the "majority" of the taxes, and getting the "minority" of the entitlements.

Frankly, I would love to have minority status. I could get all kinds of stuff on the government dole, just by showing up at the welfare office. No questions asked. Cowchild could get free college tuition. Maybe my property taxes would be lowered if I were a "minority."

Does anyone know how a person in the new "minority" can become considered legally a member of the minority in order to get all the free stuff? By the same token (no pun intended), shouldn't those in the new "majority" be prohibited from all those same entitlements, kinda like those in the new "minority" are?

Well, its supposed to hit 100 degrees today. It was supposed it hit 100 degrees for the past few days.... and didn't. But, it sure felt like it. Outside potted plants have needed water daily, or by noon they look pretty wilted. The laundry dries quicker on the line than in the dryer, so that saves a bit of $$. Anyway, its August in Texas, and this is what August in Texas is.... hot. Hey Al, you maroon! Its not global warming!!! Its August!!!!

According to the only article I've found that mentions that telling bit of information, the "victims' relatives questioned why the illegal immigrant from Peru had been granted bail this year on assault and child rape charges."

Yep, this whole open borders thing is working out well for American citizens.

Apparently, I am not the only one confused by the Administration's decision to remove the National Guard troops from the border.

Read this memo from Chris Simcox, Minuteman Civil Defense Corps:

A few comments I want to share with all volunteers. We are making a difference and we see some action from the government -I know it is slow but I want to remind everyone to be resolve in their efforts -stay positive and stay active.

Here in Arizona everyone including Senator Kyl to Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano to Border Patrol field agents, is dumbfounded over President Bush’s decision to weaken our national security by removing National Guard personnel from the southern border with Mexico.

At a time when violence is on the increase, when drug cartels are on the rampage and we have people from around the world breaching our border security the President should be increasing the number of National Guard on our borders. The situation along our southern border will not be improved by the removal of National Guard and everyone knows it. Certainly the resourceful, well funded, well organized criminal syndicates that control the southern border regions already know our weakness and exploit it at every turn. They are already ramping up to take advantage of the President’s mind boggling and illogical decision to weaken border security. Our observers along the border are reporting a marked increase in the numbers of people crossing the border in California and Arizona.

And now this alarming assessment from DEA brought to us by reporter Sara Cater:

Islamic extremists embedded in the United States — posing as Hispanic nationals — are partnering with violent Mexican drug gangs to finance terror networks in the Middle East, according to a Drug Enforcement Administration report.

"Since drug traffickers and terrorists operate in a clandestine environment, both groups utilize similar methodologies to function ... all lend themselves to facilitation and are among the essential elements that may contribute to the successful conclusion of a catastrophic event by terrorists," said the confidential report, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Times.

The 2005 report outlines an ongoing scheme in which multiple Middle Eastern drug-trafficking and terrorist cells operating in the U.S. fund terror networks overseas, aided by established Mexican cartels with highly sophisticated trafficking routes.

These terrorist groups, or sleeper cells, include people who speak Arabic, Spanish and Hebrew and, for the most part, arouse no suspicion in their communities.

"It is very likely that any future 'September 11th' type of terrorist event in the United States may be facilitated, wittingly or unwittingly, by drug traffickers operating on both sides of the United States-Mexico border," the DEA report says.

Border Patrol field agents are encouraging the MCDC volunteers to increase our presence and surveillance. We have more volunteers, more equipment and more landowners opening up their property for our use. Landowners know the truth, crossings are the same if not increasing and they are begging for help. Border Patrol agents are soliciting for our help.

We have increased the frequency of our operations which are now up from 1 to 3 operations per month.

But we have seen improvements, new technology like the virtual fence, ground radar, new vehicles, new night vision equipment are all helping Border Patrol to do a better job of detecting crossings, unfortunately they lack the manpower to apprehend all of them. The lack of manpower remains the biggest problem –not enough agents and too many illegals – Border Patrol agents continue to estimate that they are lucky to apprehend one in four of the total who cross. They admit they can better detect when an incursion takes place the problem is they just do not have the manpower to respond to the dozens of groups that come across by the hour. Thus, they need our help, at least we can keep track of groups until Border Patrol can provide agents to apprehend.

Our observers on the border who monitor scanner activity report hundreds of sensor hits and dozens of calls from citizens throughout the day and night – the activity continues non-stop day after day.

A rancher who allowed us to construct a fence on his property was violently attacked on his own property this week . As he drove near the border he surprised a group of people illegally entering the country, as they ran back across the border they pelted his vehicle with rocks one of which struck him square in the chest, others narrowly missing his face and head.

MCDC efforts show fruits of labor. Government is gearing up for major military intervention to battle drug cartels on southern border.

The U.S. government now seems resigned to the fact that they must heed our demands. Secure the border, smash the cartels and enforce the laws on employers – all are major advances in our six-year effort.

According to a story in the Washington Post today, “at a time when Mexico is struggling to contain a war among major drug cartels that has cost more than 3,000 lives in the past year and has horrified Mexicans with images of beheadings and videotaped assassinations. Calderón has impressed U.S. officials by extraditing a record number of drug suspects to the United States and by dispatching more than 20,000 federal police officers and soldiers to fight the trafficking organizations, but that effort has failed to stop the violence.

The anti-drug aid package would represent a major shift in relations after years of tension and mutual suspicion among law enforcement agencies on both sides of the border. "It's astonishing and a sea change," said a senior Republican aide who works on drug policy issues. "It's a real recognition that Calderón has a problem. And his success or failure will impact us. The days of the finger-pointing are over."

This is a major move in the right direction. Perhaps this is in part why Bush has decided to cut National Guard forces in half – will he replace them with special operations trained military. But it remains a mystery why the president refuses to work openly with congress and why Bush is so reluctant to bolster border security for fear of offending Mexico.

When the lives of American citizens are at risk, when our country is being invaded, when thousands of citizens are victimized by crimes committed by foreign nationals in our country illegally, the American people are the ones the present has offended.

ADMINISTRATION ENCOURAGES DRUG DEALERS AND TERRORISTS THROUGH OUR POROUS BORDER

PHOENIX, AZ — The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) call for the Bush Administration to reconsider its withdrawal of National Guard troops stationed on the U.S-Mexican border while current policies already raise concerns that our porous borders serve as an open pathway to an ever-increasing illegal alien migrant invasion. MCDC believes that the withdrawal of troops will exacerbate a worsening situation of border intrusions and coyote violence, which has been fed by irresponsible “amnesty” talk from Washington and withdrawal of the National Guard presence also sends the wrong message to international drug dealers, criminals and terrorists with designs upon America.

“It is simply the case that the voters made their priorities clear to Washington earlier this summer—secure the borders, enforce the laws, in that order,” states Chris Simcox. “Now it’s time for Washington to get with the program and to keep the troops at the border.”

Currently, the Minuteman message of “border security first” has provided a growing impetus for the creation of 92 MCDC nationally-sponsored chapters, organized at the state and local levels.

MCDC has been stalwart in advocating that border security be implemented immediately with funds already allocated to the Department of Homeland Security’s treasury through the 2006 Secure Fence Act, and with the placement of 20,000 National Guard troops stationed on the U.S.-Mexico border. MCDC rejects on-going Bush administration and Congressional calls for massive spending from hypothetical billions of new dollars for unproven “virtual” border security in exchange for amnesty programs, and the removal of border security personnel—including already deployed National Guard.

Unlike the U.S. government, the Minutemen have already been implementing a plan for border security that is more than “virtual” and that includes an effective material barrier—by volunteering their time, energy and personal funds in order to build highly effective demonstration security fencing on private ranch land, expensed through private donations obtained from thousands of citizens nationally. To educate the public and force federal government attention to the realities of border security, Minuteman volunteers have taken steps to build this fence along the border utilizing state of the art technology with the fiber optic mesh produced by FOMGuard, USA, also currently in use on U.S. military installations, the DMZ in Korea and the West Bank in Israel, and recently featured in National Geographic magazine.

Simcox continues, “When the administration ‘cracks down’ on employers one day and loosens security on the border the next day, it’s sending a schizophrenic message to the American people and rolling out the red carpet for the criminal element who seek to do us harm. We must keep the troops on the borders until American sovereignty and territory is truly and demonstrably secure. Only then we can focus on new strategies for interior enforcement. Securing our borders against the present onslaught of migrant alien invasion and terrorist infiltration must remain the top priority for the sake of national security and public safety today, and for future generations of Americans. We need those troops—and many more like them—left right where they are.”

If you have been scratching your head trying to figure out why President Bush has pushed so hard for amnesty, here's your "smoking gun."

An effort is underway to create a North American "framework" that will all but eliminate hard borders between Mexico, the U.S. and Canada. This "framework" includes a "trusted travelers" program that allows "citizens of North America" to move freely within the three countries.

No wonder the President is pushing amnesty!

On August 20-21, President Bush will join Mexican President Calderon and Canadian Prime Minister Harper for the second Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) summit.

The SPP is what many believe to be the beginnings of the infrastructure for the North American Union. The SPP's stated goal is to:

"...Consolidate our action into a North American framework to confront security and economic challenges,and promote the full potential of our people, addressing disparities and increasing opportunities for all."

This tri-lateral agreement already has resulted in regulatory changes and open borders initiatives that clearly undermine our sovereignty. The SPP is the one touting the "trusted travelers" program to encourage migration of "citizens of North America."

More convoluted border monkey business

I'm confused.

I am hearing that President Bush is either:

(A) withdrawing the troops from the border (you know, our warriors that were sent to the border to do paperwork for the Border Patrol), or

(B) stepping up all sorts of new enforcement, local law enforcement training, enforcement of criminal laws against employers of illegals, plus English classes and an expedited naturalization process.

Or maybe he is doing both. Pulling back the troops (might as well if they aren't going to be allowed to defend our border against invasion), and turning the enforcement part over to local law enforcement and Border Patrol agents, so those poor guys can get charged with murder or attempted murder every time they stop a bad guy illegally entering our country.

I just don't understand what is so hard to figure out. Secure our borders and enforce our laws. It's really a no-brainer. Sheesh!

Book Reviews

I've just updated my reading recommendations, which may be found on the right side of this page.

Michael Crighton's Next was fantastic. You would think that I would just automatically read whatever he writes. I had the same hesitation about reading Next as I did with State of Fear. Possibly it is because when a well-known celebrity writes anything to do with "global warming" (State of Fear), and now genetics (Next), I seemed to have trained myself to disregard their nonsense. Of course, I adored State of Fear and have recommended it to everyone. Next is just as good. Do not miss it!!

High Profile is another of Robert Parker's Jesse Stone mysteries. It was great fun to read. Naturally, after seeing the tv movie with Tom Selleck playing Jesse, I now visualize Jesse as Tom Selleck, and there are much worse things to visualize than Tom Selleck. Anyway, a fun read.

I'm just starting Capitol Threat by William Bernhardt. The Cowboy has been hogging it, and I just finally have a chance to read it. It is starting out pretty interesting, so it will likely be worth the time. Update coming soon.

SCHIP & THE AMT

On Town Hall, there is an article by Scott Garrett, a U.S. Congressman from New Jersey's 5th District. The article is about the SCHIP bill passed by the House, which expands what will basically be nationalized health care to many Americans and illegal aliens, and cuts Medicare benefits to "an estimated 3 million" American senior citizens.

Hopefully, the President will veto this abomination.

We all know nationalized health care does not work. For decades we have heard stories about the UK, Canada, Australia, and the EU, where those who can afford it, go elsewhere for health care, rather than wait months and years for a government funded operation. Our own government cannot even defend our borders, so why should we trust them with our health care?

Congressman Garrett further makes a good point, that this "free" health care will be financed with the AMT (Alternative Minimum Tax), an unfair tax on the American middle class, which so far, Congress has not seen fit to repeal. The very income bracket that will be first affected by the SCHIP program is also the one most affected by the AMT.

Get on the phone to your elected representatives in D.C. Blast them for their sneaky attempts to take away our right to control our own health care, and further demand the repeal of the AMT. While you are at it, demand they just repeal the IRS in favor of the Fair Tax.

We have apparently reached a point in our history, where we must all be watchdogs of our elected officials. Otherwise, they will sell us and our country to the highest bidder, and we will be left with no rights at all.

Still no triple digits

Amazing, this weather. August 7th, and we still have not hit 100 degrees in North Central Texas. Believe me, I am NOT complaining. However, it did get within a few degrees today. Enough to remind me what the weather is usually like this time of year.

Today, I hit the horrendous I-35 and headed into the DFW metroplex. There are so many more trucks on I-35 than there were just a few years ago. It is a nerve-wracking, white knuckled drive these days. Not knowing whether the truckers are professional American truck drivers or Mexican nationals with little knowledge of or regard for our laws (not to mention the bits about the safety of their trucks and the no-insurance part of the equation) adds to the miserable driving experience.

Once in the metroplex, and amazingly, safely at my destination, a fun time was had by all.

Heading back to the ranch it was the same concerns in reverse. Then I got to this very high overpass. Then I thought about the bridge collapse in Minnesota. Then I tried to remember how old this particular bridge was. Then, I made a note to self: Note to self - next time exit before the bridge and take back road.

Trips into the metroplex remind me of why I moved to the country in the first place. I couldn't live in the city anymore.... too many people, lousy air, too much traffic.

It was nice to get home without incident, take a deep breath of clean air, and listen for, but not hear, the sound of traffic.

The Boston Globe reports that at least 100 illegals swarm specific locations in Massachusetts each day looking for work. This cheap labor is reported to cost $15-20 per hour. Tell me what the minimum wage is again.

It seems that American citizens are catching on to this "avoid the IRS" method of wage earning used by the illegals.

"Guilliano Verna, 21, an American college student from Cambridge, said the immigrants taught him to ask for $12 or $15 an hour, instead of $10. He said he was recently fired from an $8-an-hour job at a supermarket for missing work. He said he was the only black employee, and felt uncomfortable there.

Now he can earn $900 a week instead of $190.

"I love it," Verna said."

Verna has a point. If laws are selectively enforced, then why shouldn't they be selectively obeyed? Have you ever wondered what would happen if we all decided not to pay income tax or Social Security? If the SCHIP "Nationalized Health Care program becomes law, why shouldn't we all work "off the books"? Employees making less than $82,000 per year (the new poverty level) will be able to get free healthcare for everyone in their families under the age of 25 (presumably including the parents). Employers of those people get to save lots of money on employee health benefits. If everyone worked off the books, everyone could save lots of money on payroll, income, unemployment, and social security taxes too!

Maybe the illegals are smarter than we think! Or maybe we are dumber than we realize.

The New York Sun reports that Al Quida cells may be forming or active in the U.S. according to information resulting from the "doctors' plot" in the UK. Duh...

ABC's Brian Ross reports on "The Blotter" that

"The FBI is investigating an alleged human smuggling operation based in Chaparral, N.M., that agents say is bringing "Iraqis and other Middle Eastern" individuals across the Rio Grande from Mexico."

The article continues, saying,

"...the smuggling organization "used to smuggle Mexicans, but decided to smuggle Iraqi or other Middle Eastern individuals because it was more lucrative." Each individual would be charged a fee of $20,000 to $25,000, according to the report."

(Washington D.C.)- Members of the Immigration Reform Caucus (IRC) blasted plans to eliminate proof-of-citizenship requirements for anyone applying for Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). IRC Chairman, Congressman Brian Bilbray (R-CA) went further by calling on members of Congress to do the right thing and fight to keep the citizenship requirements in the final SCHIP bill.

"You might has well post a 'come one, come all' sign on our borders if you're going to give 12-20 million illegal immigrants access to health care benefits complements of the American taxpayers," Bilbray said. These are benefits that most Americans don't even qualify for. Hopefully, members of Congress will do the right thing and fight for a bill that helps middle-class Americans get access to better health care opportunities instead of making them pay for the health care costs of 12-20 million illegal immigrants."

The citizenship requirements were originally passed in 1996 as a part of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Responsibility Act. The legislation specifically limited the distribution of federal benefits, including Medicaid coverage, to those lawfully in the United States.

"By removing the provision requiring applicants to provide proof of citizenship to receive subsidized health care benefits, Congress is in effect extending these taxpayer benefits to illegal immigrants," said
Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ). "Not only does it drastically expand government-run health care at the expense of 3.2 million tax-paying American seniors who will be left without Medicare Advantage, but I am afraid we are also setting our children on an unsustainable course where they will be left to face the fiscal train wreck of runaway government spending. Providing health care for needy children is a noble and necessary undertaking, but this drastic expansion of the SCHIP program to potentially millions of adult illegal immigrants takes the bill far beyond its intended scope."

Congressman Ted Poe (R-TX) added, "It seems to me that our federal government is rolling out the red carpet to illegals in this country every chance they get. This is just another engraved invitation from our government for people to disregard our immigration laws. Health care in the United States is paid for by United States taxpayers and should be reserved for citizens and legal residents of our country. It is time for this Congress to put the needs of Americans before the needs of illegals."

"Only one month after the American people buried the Senate amnesty sellout and made it perfectly clear they did not want it resurrected from the grave, we see yet another proposal from Democrats that puts illegal immigrants ahead of hardworking taxpayers," responded Congressman Tom Feeney (R-FL).

"Offering illegal immigrants healthcare services at the expense of hardworking taxpayers is insulting and offers another incentive for individuals to enter our country illegally. The Democrats should listen to the American people spend time securing our borders instead of offering illegal immigrants taxpayer funded benefits."

Congressman Scott Garrett (R-NJ) said, "In the name of helping children, Congress is about to act to saddle those very children with extraordinary debt. In an effort to buy votes for passage of a bill that is on its way to the President's veto pen, Democrat leadership has loaded it up with a number of provisions that are bad for the taxpayers - today's and tomorrow's. This bill is both bad policy and bad practice."

"The back door to amnesty seemingly grows larger with every Democrat proposal this Congress," Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) concluded. "The SCHIP program is intended to help America's needy children, not redirect precious health care resources to illegal aliens. We cannot expect the flood of illegal immigrants to slow if we continually provide new incentives to break our laws."

Hmmm..... August

It's been a while since I've posted on this blog. How time flies.

So what has changed since January?

Borders secured? Nope

Troops on the border? Nope

Population inside the Beltway still showing signs of mass insanity? Yep

Doesn't look like anything has actually changed.

However, in my life.... here it is, the first part of August, and deep in the heart of Texas, it is green and tropical looking. After years of drought, we have had rain... lots of rain. The grass is growing so fast that the cattle can't keep up with it. Nice problem to have.

We had a great crop of calves this year. 50/50 girls and boys. The steers that will be ready to sell this fall are filling out nicely on the unlimited grass.

The temperature has still not hit 100 degrees. Amazing!

The Cowdogs have gotten their summer haircuts, thereby enabling me to bathe them daily, as Cowdog No. 1 just loves manure-diving. She is a white dog, but after a dive in the fresh manure, she becomes a green dog. Cowdog No. 2 may get a little mud on her from time to time, but she draws the line at manure-diving.

Well, speaking of Cowdogs, the manure-diver is on the way back into the yard after taking a swim in the lake, so must dash outside to bathe her while she is still wet.

State of the Union Address

I was very pleasantly surprised at the SOTU last night. The President did an excellent job of delivery. He seemed relaxed and primed at the same time.

His explanation and differentiation of the Sunni and Shia elements in the current conflict was the first easily-understandable explanation of the issue that I have heard from anyone. The President's differentiation between the Sunni and Shia and the imported terrorists was understandable as well. Assuming anyone who didn't understand the nature of the conflict was watching the SOTU, the President sorted it out nicely.

There was nothing new in the energy bit. Didn't hear the word "Anwar." Didn't hear the word "shale." Didn't hear anything about new refineries. What I did hear was a bunch of liberal-appeasing rhetoric about reducing oil consumption and using a lot more corn and wood chips. Should I point out, that every barrel of oil we buy finances more terrorist actions around the world? Should I point out that the fastest, most efficient way to prevent our dollars from getting into terrorists' pockets is to use our own petroleum resources? Oh well, the Dems seemed happy, but then again, they thought "Brokeback Mountain" was a good movie.

As to Homeland Security, the invasion by 30-50 million people into our country was not mentioned. I don't understand why the President thinks we need guest workers when there is already such a sizeable number of illegals in our midst, taking low income jobs, to the exclusion of those Americans who are only capable of filling those same types of positions. Americans are not all doctors and lawyers. Many Americans can only support their families by mowing lawns and cleaning homes. They are finding fewer and fewer jobs because of the unlimited number of unskilled workers pouring into our country, along with the drug dealers (terrorists), ruthless gangs (terrorists) and the terrorists (terrorists). Tom Tancredo shook his head during this part of the SOTU, as did I.

Darfur? Malaria and HIV in Africa? Sorry, we have enough problems here. This Administration has sent vast amounts of food and medicine to that continent. I am glad I don't live there, but their admittedly dire problems are their own.

Now, to get snippy. Pelosi over the President's shoulder was a bit much to take. I had to hold my hand at a certain angle in front of my face to block her out when the cud-chewing and blinking started getting on my nerves. A couple of times, it looked to me like Vice President Cheney was about to bust out laughing. Must have been one of those "you had to be there" things, because I couldn't see anything funny. Unless.... he was looking at Sen. Kerry, who looked completely stoned. Now, that man has a face that would stop a clock, anyway, but ..... looked stoned to me. Hillary, as well, appeared heavily medicated. There's an idea. Keep her heavily medicated and lock her away somewhere for the rest of her unnatural life. I noticed that the Black Caucus didn't stand and applaud for much of anything. I'm being generous. I didn't see them stand at all, but surely there was something they liked. Maybe not. They looked bored when the President called for "victory." If that wouldn't get 'em off their respective asses, nothing will.

All in all, the President did a great job with the SOTU. The Iraq campaign and the War on Terror bits were excellent. As to the rest, most of it ain't gonna happen, so no need to worry about it.

State of the Union tonight

Well, about the only thing noteworthy today, is that the State of the Union message is tonight. I suspect it will be difficult to watch.

The media, the Democrats, and the turncoat Republicans have done an excellent job of demoralizing our country, our law enforcement, and our troops.

The GOP base is so PO'd they don't know what to do. This dilemma for the rank and file Republicans, is similar to the mass exodus of conservative Democrats in the late 70's and early 80's to the GOP. The problem now, is that there is nowhere for conservative Americans to go. What is a citizen supposed to do when their party marches off to the "left", and leaves them behind?

What is a Patriotic American supposed to do when their borders are unprotected, when their country has been invaded by millions of people from the Third World, when increased taxation is just a House Bill away, when those inside the Beltway seem determined to lose the War on Terror, and when their elected officials roll over and play dead?

Feel free to post suggestions. I'm at a loss.

Drudge is frightening this morning. TWO pics of Sen. Clinton, and me only halfway through my first cuppa coffee. That is hard to take, so early in the morning. Plus, more pics of the Democrat contenders for the Presidency:

Obama - Great. A Muslim, whose father and stepfather were (are?) both fanatical Muslims. Should any discussion of him being our president, need go any further than this?

Richardson - governor of New Mexico. Typical Dem: says one thing for political gain; does another for idealogical gain. Remember, this was the first governor to say he would send National Guard troops to the border, and then backed off after he got enough publicity.

Edwards - Yuck! No further explanation necessary.

McCain - Yes, I realize I've lumped him in with the "other" Democrats.... no mistake here.... I call 'em as I see 'em. I wouldn't support him for dogcatcher, no matter which party he's in.

Now to the GOP's supposed frontrunners:

Giuliani - were he the GOP nominee, I would support him. That being said, I hope we have a true conservative at the head of the ticket.

Romney - interesting, but I have a real trust issue with politicos from Massachusetts.

Return from the Frozen Tundra of Texas

Cowgirl is back. Typical Texas winter weather is back. And, thank God for Walmart!!

After a week of rain, sleet, ice and snow, followed by more rain, today it was almost 60 degrees, and not a cloud in the sky. Pshew! Now, mind you, I am NOT complaining about the rain. We need tons more rain to fill the lakes, but trust me on this, the ground is now saturated. And then some.

Today, we moved the cows. Two days ago, I went to Walmart and bought a new pair of rubber boots, which turned out to be a brilliant idea. This afternoon, I was ankle deep in cold, sloshy mud where the cattle had been churning up the very, wet earth at the gates. It took ages to clean the boots afterwards, but my tootsies were dry and warm. One of the new babies (we are just starting calving season), is so gentle, he let me rub his head and back. And it was a beautiful day. Soaked up lots of Vitamin D.

Reading the news, it seems like the world is going to hell in a handbasket. But, today, slogging around in the mud in the sunshine, and loving on a precious little calfie, all was right with the world.

It appears that it was NOT a "chance confrontation" between the Arizona National Guard and untrained illegal immigrants, but a deliberate "perimeter probe" by an infantry-trained, uniformed Mexican force, according to a just-released online report.

The Euphoric Reality blog has learned in exclusive interviews with high-ranking sources within both the Arizona National Guard and the U.S. Border Patrol that the incident the mainstream media calls a "standoff" was in reality a military-style operation, carried out by a unit of Mexican troops dressed in military uniforms, flak jackets, and armed with AK-47s in an apparent operation to probe the border defenses and test the limits of the National Guard troops. Using easily recognizable infantry movement tactics (such as arm and hand signals and flanking maneuvers), the Mexican unit deliberately moved in a military formation across the border from Mexico, while under surveillance by the National Guard and Border Patrol.

WHY ISN'T THIS PAGE ONE NEWS ACROSS AMERICA???

A Confession of Lack of Interest

I must make a confession. I'm having a little trouble getting interested in commenting on current events lately. I haven't even been able to make myself watch Special Report, which I rarely miss. All I can figure out, is that I am so very disappointed in my elected representatives, that the point has been reached, where I need a break from worrying about things over which I, apparently, have no control.

Here is my take on the current state of the nation. Thousands of people from anywhere in the world illegally enter this country on a daily basis. That is "thousands" per day. Get it? Thousands! Who they are and where they are from and why they are here and what they are bringing with them..... no one knows. My government is doing exactly "zip" about it.

I, along with all the other law-abiding American citizens, are paying increased property taxes to fund free public schools and college educations for the children of these invaders, while at the same time struggling to pay for education of our own children. Because the invaders do not bother following any of our laws, they drive around the country without automobile insurance, and they have a lot of wrecks. Who pays? We do, in increasingly higher automobile insurance premiums.

Then, there is that whole health care thing. As if the cost of health care is not exhorbitant anyway, we now have to pick up the tab for the invaders' health care as well.

Shall I even mention our Social Security system, which is in its last gasps anyway? There will be no Social Security for me, but apparently there will be for people who are working in this country illegally, using forged or stolen Social Security numbers.

The more I think about it, I think I want to be an illegal alien. How do I go about changing my status? What would it be like to be able to disregard the laws with impunity? I cannot even imagine that, but it sure would be cheaper.

I just received an email from a Minuteman who stood with the National Guard and Border Patrol yesterday. Notice how the boots on the ground appreciate the Minuteman as opposed to the head honchos in their cozy offices who say the border is too dangerous for ordinary citizens. Cowgirl

The National Guardsmen surely appreciated us being there as well as the BP, they even saluted us when we left. We had a convoy with about 30 cars. Pictures should be on the website soon. We will start running a line there.

We even went to the spot where the incursion occured and stood watch there for a few hours. Wore my bullet proof vest for the first time in 5 years.

Volunteers with the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps are headed for the Arizona-Mexico border Friday to provide backup for National Guard troops in response to an incident near Sasabe in which the approach of armed men forced soldiers to retreat. (Durn! Wish I could have been there!)

Here's the background of what happened Wednesday night:
About 11 p.m. Wednesday, soldiers with a National Guard Entry Identification Team - which provides additional eyes and ears for the U.S. Border Patrol and notifies them of suspicious activity - saw a group of armed individuals approaching them in the desert, said Mario Martinez, spokesman for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Border Patrol Office.

The individuals came within 100 yards of the National Guard post, so the troops moved to a safer location and notified Border Patrol agents, Martinez said.

When agents responded minutes later, the armed individuals were gone but the agents tracked their footprints to the U.S.-Mexico border, Martinez said.

The incident occurred in the west desert corridor between Nogales and Lukeville near Sasabe, which has been a busy area for marijuana seizures since last year.

Still, the Border Patrol does not know who the individuals were; why they were armed; or why they were in the United States, Martinez said. There was no verbal or physical confrontation between them and the guard troops, he said.

Chris Simcox, the founder and president of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, said the incident shows the federal government is ineffective when it comes to protecting the border.

"The fact that National Guardsmen were forced to retreat from an armed incursion," Simcox said. "It's just absurd." (Chris, "absurd" doesn't even begin to describe it.)

The volunteer border watch organization wants to send the message that National Guard troops aren't making U.S. citizens any safer.

"The National Guard needs to be unhandcuffed and they need to be able to deal with these aggressive international incidents," Simcox said.

The troops need to be able to apprehend and detain illegal immigrants when they encounter them, he said.

The volunteers will be armed so they can defend themselves and they won't retreat if confronted by dangerous border crossers, he said.

Major Paul Aguirre, a spokesman for the Arizona National Guard, said troops are armed and will defend themselves if their lives are in danger, but their role is to provide support for the Border Patrol.

Martinez said the National Guard has been effective in its role. The troops provide vehicle maintenance and carry out administrative duties that previously kept agents away from their work on the border. (Excuse me. Why the hell is the National Guard - remember, they are our warriors - playing mechanics and secretaries for the Border Patrol? Wouldn't it make more sense for the National Guard to defend the border, and let the Border Patrol mop up what gets past the National Guard?)

The troops also spot illegal immigrants that otherwise would go unnoticed, Martinez said.

The Border Patrol appreciates citizen involvement, but "the border is a dangerous place," Martinez said. "And we have Border Patrol agents trained specifically for that mission." (And just why is "the border a dangerous place"? Possibly because heavily armed bad guys regularly cross it into this country?)

Robin Hoover, the founder of Humane Borders and pastor of First Christian Church, said sending armed U.S. citizens to the border is "idiotic." (No Robin, you are an idiot, and a traitor!)

"It's insane for non-trained personnel to go to the border," he said. (It was insane for a bunch of farmers to go up against the British, but that turned out okay)

"You're just begging for an international incident to happen." (To quote President Bush, completely out of context, "Bring it on!!")

He also called into question how effective the National Guard troops were in their mission because they were unable to identify the armed individuals.

He pointed out that both U.S. and Mexican military personnel inadvertently cross the border without realizing it and that could have happened in this situation.

Martinez said it's important for people not to overreact to the recent incident and that the National Guard troops did exactly what they were expected to do.

"We need to make sure that people know what happened out there is serious," Martinez said. "But we don't exaggerate it." (Hey! WE get that it is serious. The problem is that WE don't think you guys understand it!!)

A U.S. Border Patrol entry Identification Team site was overrun Wednesday night along Arizona's border with Mexico.

According to the Border Patrol, an unknown number of gunmen attacked the site in the state's West Desert Region around 11 p.m. The site is manned by National Guardsmen. Those guardsmen were forced to retreat.

The Border Patrol will not say whether shots were fired. However, no Guardsmen were injured in the incident.

The Border Patrol says the incident occurred somewhere along the 120 mile section of the border between Nogales and Lukeville. The area is known as a drug corridor. Last year, 124-thousand pounds of illegal drugs were confiscated in this area.

The Border patrol says the attackers quickly retreated back into Mexico.

Herndon picked for ICE program

Herndon Police Department Chief Toussaint E. Summers Jr. says the town has been accepted into a federal program that trains officers to enforce immigration laws, including deportation proceedings for illegal aliens.
The Town Council has voted in favor of the plan but will hold a hearing to get public comment before signing a final agreement with the Department of Homeland Security.
Herndon spokeswoman Anne Curtis said comments from residents are "a priority for the mayor and council" and that officials "very much are looking forward to citizen input."
If the deal is approved, two senior U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents will train the department's 70 officers and civilian personnel.
"We have an excellent police force," said Mayor Stephen J. DeBenedittis. "I think this will benefit enforcement."
Herndon has the highest percentage of foreign-born residents of any locality in the region, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. About 40 percent of the town's 23,000 residents were born in other countries.
George Taplin, a retired U.S. Navy veteran who organized a local chapter of the Minutemen group, which seeks stricter control of illegal immigration, said nearly 24 percent of the population are Hispanics. He supports the plan.
"I think it's great," Mr. Taplin said. "It's been a long time coming."
Chief Summers applied to the program in September after years of problems with illegal aliens, particularly those loitering while looking for part-time jobs.
In 2005, the council established a publicly funded day-labor center to keep job seekers from committing such public nuisance acts as drinking and urinating in public while waiting for contractors to offer jobs.
Residents of this Northern Virginia town who opposed the plan did not re-elect some town officials in the elections that followed.
Supporters said the federal government must resolve the country's immigration problems but local governments have a responsibility to help their residents.
Officers who pass the five-week class will likely be authorized to question or detain people whom they suspect to be in the country illegally. They also would collaborate with federal agents on immigration cases.
At least seven other state and local law-enforcement agencies have been accepted into the program, including the sheriff's department in Los Angeles .

Cowgirl's Predictions for 2007

On this last day of the year, I just read a couple of polls Drudge linked to. One poll determined that Americans are optimistic about the upcoming year, although they were concerned about the war in Iraq. The other poll indicated that Americans think they personally are doing great, but that the new year will bring: another domestic terrorist attack, more global warming, and even worse natural disasters.

So, here is my take on this.

My family and I are doing fine. We are healthy, happy, and in fairly good shape financially. So is everyone we know. Even the people we know who live paycheck to paycheck are happy with their lives. This is because we are Americans, and we are self-confident, self-reliant, and hard-working by nature. It may be genetic.

Being optimistic about our lives does not mean that we live with our heads stuck in the sand. This world is very dangerous. Guess what? It always has been. As a child growing up a stone's throw from SAC HQ during the Cuban Missile Crisis, the threat of nuclear anniliation is simply something I have lived with all my life. I still grew up; I still achieved; I still looked forward to the future.

When I was in high school and college, we were told to expect another ice age. That didn't happen. Now, we are being told to expect all sorts of disasters due to global warming. Let me make this clear. Changing climates is a natural process. It has happened since the beginning of the world. We cannot stop it; we did not cause it. Having grown up in tornado alley and being somewhat accostumed to tornadic disasters, here's a tip. Make sure you have a storm shelter and insurance. If disaster strikes, you start over. You deal with it. You don't rely on anyone except yourself.

The difference today, is that we are in a global war. Some Americans do not believe we are at war. They are wrong. Having served on the border with the Minutemen, I have seen the bad guys sneaking into our country armed with their assault rifles, and the Lord only knows what was in their packs. It is well documented that satchel (suitcase) nukes have been brought into the country. At some point, there will be an attack here. Is there anything I can do to stop it? Probably not. But what I can do, and what we can all do, is demand that our government step up to the plate. By securing our borders and enforcing our laws, and by putting national security first and foremost on the agenda, the federal government could go a long way to mitigating the damage future attacks will cause. If you are reading this, you have internet access. If you have internet access, you can send emails. Compose a few good emails to encourage your congressmen, senators and the president to protect our country, gather the addresses of your elected representatives, and fire off those emails every time you think about it. That is about all we can do to effect a change at the national level.

However, at the personal level, there is much we can do as individuals. The Red Cross has disaster training courses. Take them. Take the First Aid classes as well. Make sure you have at least a week's worth of food, water, and medicine at all times. If you live in the city, work out an escape route. If you live in the country, plant a garden so you will have food no matter what happens. Buy guns and learn how to use them. These are areas in which we do have control over our destiny. Planning for a real threat is not pessimism, it is realism as well as optimism.

My personal opinion is that there will be no major attacks on US soil until after President Bush leaves office. He is viewed as a wild card by the bad guys, and they know there would be swift and awesome retribution for any attacks here during his watch. As to natural disasters, well, let's put emphasis on the word "natural." If they happen, we deal with it.

So, I am looking forward to 2007 as a year where I will live my life. I will enjoy each day. I will love my family and my friends. I will worship my God and give thanks continually that I was born in the only country in the world which is truly a Christian country. And, I will also be vigilant. If that makes me a vigilante, then, so be it.

One Less Evil Person in the World Today

I, for one, slept a little better last night, knowing there was one less evil person in the world. No regrets here that Saddam is no longer with us. In the words of my unadmirable Governor Rick Perry, "Adios, Mo-Fo."

Well, we did get a good rain last night, that was badly needed. As I wrote yesterday, we almost always get rain when the President comes home. We didn't actually need the tornados, which apparently caused the President, First Lady and the critters some inconvenience, but we did need the rain.

Michael Totten has a Part I and a Part II relating to Lebanon. It is very long, but very enlightening. Independent journalists like Michael provide us with information and insight we wouldn't get otherwise.

The President still has not pardoned the two border patrol agents who are scheduled to report for prison January 17th. Please continue to inundate the White House (president@whitehouse.gov) and Attorney General Gonzales (AskDOJ@usdoj.gov) with emails demanding these agents be pardoned. This is another example of a total absence of justice, when law enforcement officers can be prosecuted and convicted for doing their jobs.

Well, after the high winds and rain last night, it appears Cowchild and I will be busy with outside clean-up today. At least we aren't having to shovel snow.

Due to a whole raft of internet access problems, I've been sorely missing everything that has happened the past week. The techies were out yesterday, and it appears all is well....finally. So, let's dig in.

I was in the last bit of college during the Nixon resignation and President Ford's term in office. As a major in political science, our class assignments involved watching the Watergate hearings. After being totally immersed in that mess for months, President Ford was a breath of fresh air. He seemed like a nice man busy doing his job. He was the President we needed at the time, and he truly did inherit a mess of a nation to lead. We worn torn from Vietnam and Watergate; many of us weren't that keen on detente, but all in all, President Ford managed to restore some semblance of normalcy to our country. He served us well. God speed, sir.

Also passing away was James Brown. I have enjoyed his music since I was a child. Another milestone.

And in a pre-obit, it looks like the evil Saddam has finally pushed the envelope too far. It will be interesting if he is transferred to Iraqi custody and does not "escape" before his execution. For the millions he murdered in the most inhumane and sadistic fashions, and for putting out a hit on Big Daddy Bush, hanging is too good for him. Drawn and quartered would be too humane for what he deserves. Enough said.

Apparently the state bar association is filing ethics charges against District Atty. Mike Nifong in the Duke Lacrosse fiasco. It's about time. I know I have written about the DA's abuse of power several times. This was so clearly an opportunistic bid to win re-election. The tragedy is the ruination of the lives of the young men involved. The state bar better disbar this guy. He deserves it.

The FDA, in its infinite wisdom, has concluded that meat and dairy products from cloned animals are safe to eat. Okay. But I ain't buying it, either figuratively or literally. CARE PACKAGES FROM MINUTEMAN CIVIL DEFENSE CORPS WILL NOT BE ISSUED TO TROOPS ON UNITED STATES—MEXICO BORDER

The Minutemen Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) has been informed by commanders of the National Guard troops stationed on the United States—Mexico border that they will not be permitted to distribute care packages during the holiday season to 156 National Guard personnel stationed on the border. The event dubbed Operation Christmas Stocking was originally cleared by field command, suddenly on Monday of this week MCDC was notified that because of political reasons which involved orders from Governor Napolitano and high level commanders the offering of holiday support was nixed.

After several attempts to appeal to the sympathies of unit commanders, a statement released today by Major Paul Aguirre Public Affairs Office, AZ National Guard states “The National Guard is very appreciative of your thoughtful offer during this holiday season. However, based on operational, safety, and security reasons we will be unable to support your request to … distribute your care packages to our soldiers and airmen”.

The care packages were organized in an effort to demonstrate appreciation to the National Guard troops, from states other than Arizona, who have volunteered for the assignment to secure the border from terrorists, drug cartels and illegal crossings rather than spend their holiday season with their families in Michigan, Tennessee and North Carolina.

“We are grateful to the members of the National Guard who understand the importance of securing our borders and therefore we wish to demonstrate our appreciation for their sacrifice during the holiday season,” stated Chris Simcox, Founder and President of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. “Soldiers are always sent care packages while stationed on the front lines in combat and the US-Mexico border is the front line on the War on Terror.” It is a shame they are punished by the politically motivated discriminatory acts of Governor Napolitano and the open borders lobby in Washington, D.C.”

MCDC now has 156 cares packages that were to be delivered to Sasabe, Arizona on Saturday. The care packages include store bought cookies and candies, sunscreen, skin lotion, chap stick, long underwear and various other personal items to help our troops cope with the Sonoran desert region where they have been assigned.

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) is a peaceful, law-abiding citizen-led initiative organized to stand watch at our borders, report illegal activities to the proper authorities, and build border fencing on private lands using private donations. Additionally, MCDC seeks to urge local and federal officials to enforce our laws in order to keep our families and country safe. MCDC conducts border watch operations that assist the activities of the U.S. Border Patrol, reports employers of illegal aliens and keeps tax dollars from being used for illegal alien benefits.

Christmas Eve Eve

It's starting to feel a bit like Christmas here in North Central Texas this morning. The early morning temperature is 39 deg. with the high forecasted to be in the low 60's. That's actually perfect. If this is global warming, I'll take it!!! Now, on to the news!!

So, now the rape charges have been dropped on those poor kids from Duke, who had the bad luck to hire a psycho stripper for a party. I am really hoping their parents have attorneys lined up to sue the hell out of the District Attorney.

Mitt Romney, the Republican governor of Massachusetts, is planning to officially throw his hat in the presidential race in a couple of weeks. So far, I like this guy. Should be interesting.

Apparently, Zawahiri, the second in command at Al-Qaeda Central, has issued a verrryyy long video, telling the Democrats in America that their winning of Congress last month was a loss for America and a win for Al-Qaeda. Heck! I could have told you that!

Friday Morning Quick Notes

Good Morning!! This has been an interesting week. I have learned a few things. For one, I have learned that when there is a blizzard in Colorado, my internet connection goes out in Texas. Thus, a couple of days of internet withdrawal to add to the already chaotic Christmas season. I have also learned that the traffic in the metroplex is horrendous. New Year's Resolution, go to the metroplex as little as possible. Also, one should never wait until the last few weeks before Christmas Eve to snag the tamales for the traditional Christmas Eve meal. For those of you unaware of the Texas tradition of serving homemade tamales for Christmas Eve, be advised that any mom who fails to score the tamales lives in fear of a major rebellion in her household. However, at the last minute, just as pure panic was setting in, my legal source of tamales came through. Adding to the chaos, also checking in was the part of the family who had been so non-committal about what to do for the holidays, that we had just planned to proceed without them. They, too, resurfaced yesterday, with ideas but without a solid commitment. So, we shall have an interesting few days ahead. Good thing my little family is flexible. Now for the news.

It seems that SMU in Dallas is the front-runner for the location of the George W. Bush Presidential Library. That seems crazy to me. SMU is right in the middle of Dallas. You have to go all the way into Dallas to get to it. See New Year's Resolution above. Bad idea, Mr. President.

I have a real problem with the 8 Marines being charged with unpremeditated murder. They had just been attacked. They are fighting a war in which the enemy hides behind women and children. They have both a right and a duty to respond appropriately to a perceived threat. This is BS.

My new hero is Representative Virgil Goode from Virginia for having the guts to take on CAIR and the gutless Democratic Representative Bill Pascrell of New Jersey. Goode is criticized for taking a stand on both legal and illegal immigration. Oh, that's right. Only liberals and other seditionists are allowed to publicly express their concerns and opinions.

And for the "feud" between the obnoxious and hair-style challenged, Donald Trump and the equally obnoxious and sanity-challenged Rosie O'Donnel, this can be summed up very simply: FREE PUBLICITY for both, courtesy of major news networks who have no clue what "news" actually is supposed to be.

As mentioned in a previous post, Russia has now, in fact, taken over the majority ownership in the Russian oil production project begun by Shell and others, and is now turning its sights on British Petroleum's interests in the country. Somebody try to convince me the Russian bear is no longer in hibernation.

And, finally, true to its treasonous, anti-American tenents, the New York Times has published an outline for terrorists, advising them, in great detail of where the vulnerable points for attack are in New York, and the amount of explosives needed to inflict major damage. In the middle of a world war, a major American newspaper publishes this type of information, and no one does anything about it? Glad I don't live in New York.

Well, that's it for now. A last few errands to run today, and then Cowgirl will not be leaving the ranch until after Christmas.

Tuesday Evening - So much for Sears

UPDATE: It appears that Sears has pulled the Aztlan t-shirt from the online catalog. A commenter brought it to my attention that the link below no longer works. I checked under men's novelty t-shirts, which is where I round the Aztlan shirts, and they are no longer there. Also interesting, is that all the Mexican Pride shirts are on the very last page of the men's novelty t-shirt section.

I received an email today, about Sears selling Aztlan t-shirts. I tried the link, but it didn't work. So, I thought maybe this was untrue.

However, I just had time to check the Sears catalog online, and guess what? They have two different Aztlan t-shirts. Click on the highlighted text to see the page.

I am now adding Sears to the places I will never shop again. Amazing to think that Sears exists only because of generations of Americans, and yet, they are promoting those who want to overthrow our government.

UPDATE: Just saw this on Numbers USA.

NBC News said Tuesday it will air an hour-long documentary about illegal immigration in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado. The network said it spent eight months "reporting on the myths and truths about illegal immigration in this pristine stretch between Aspen and Vail," which has seen an influx of Hispanics, mostly from Mexico. "Tom Brokaw Reports: In the Shadow of the American Dream" is scheduled to air Dec. 26.

Since I don't watch NBC anymore, I would have missed this. You might want to put it on your calendar. I can scarcely wait to see the glossy spin NBC puts on this invasion of that formerly "pristine stretch" of land between Aspen and Vail. I have heard of this influx from Minutemen in Colorado, who are actively working to encourage the state and local government to crack down on this activity.

Hillary Clinton says she wouldn't have voted for the Iraq War. I must say, I have a lot of respect for people with firm convictions. No respect due here.

Europe is bracing for a terror attack during the Christmas holidays. Did it ever occur to anyone that the threat of terrorism is, in itself, terrorism?

Kudos to the Belize Police Dept. for "nabbing" fugitive homegrown U.S terrorist, 41 year old Ernest James Thompson, who, according to Leonard Hill, Deputy Chief of Mission, U.S. Embassy, “... was initially arrested in 2003 in connection with plots in the United States to poison water supplies and to do a number of other things. The Senators labeled scientists with whom they disagree as "deniers," a term usually directed at "Holocaust deniers." Some voices on the political left have called for the arrest and prosecution of skeptical scientists." Isn't that just typical of the libs? They can't win on facts, so they just squelch those who disagree with their nonsense. Sounds kinda communistic to me. Hmmm...

The "youths" again! Apparently, several hundred "youths" violently protested the closure of a "youth center" in Copenhagen, throwing "cobblestones, bottles and fireworks at police and erected blazing barricades made from Christmas trees, trash cans and bicycles.." However, all is not what it seems, as the root of the problem is explained at the end of the article:

The conflict over the youth center has been brewing since 2000 when local government sold the building that houses the center. Left-wing activist have been using the center as a base since 1982.

The current owners have a court order to have the squatters evicted but the youths have sworn to protect the house and have repeatedly called for a political solution.

John Edwards, not the entertaining psychic, but unfortunately, the smarmy former Senator of North Carolina who outted Mary Chaney during the vice presidential debates, is going to run for President again. Yuck!

Looks like Americans aren't adopting Ukraine babies fast enough, since babies, not just fetuses are being used for stem cell harvesting. Seems a tad inhumane to me, but what do I know? I'm not a liberal who thinks product testing on animals is bad, but killing human babies to harvest stem cells is ok.

Head of DNA lab says he and Nifong agreed not to report results. I tell you what. That DA should be removed from office and disbarred, and those Duke athletes should sue that jerk in civil court for bazillions!

Uh-oh! Now 300 people ill after eating at Olive Garden. Who is going to guess it has something to do with the salad? Note to self: stop at health food store to pick up vegetable wash.

The best news today, is that Cowchild is home for semester break!! We have lots to do, so blogging may be sporadic, as spending time with my child is more important than pretty much anything else.

Well, I looked at the Drudge Report a little earlier, and man.... talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel for news..... sheesh! The most interesting thing was the story about the company who is building a portion of the border fence between the US and Mexico was busted for hiring illegals to build the fence. Now, please keep in mind that this is the US government-funded border fence, not the Minuteman Border Fence. Wonder what, if anything, will result from this revelation?

Senator Kerry says he would be willing to go to Iran to speak to the leaders if he had time. I think he should make time to go to Iran...............and stay there!!!

Powerline has a great piece, "Mr. President, if I may be so bold.." Common sense advice for our President on dealing with Iran. Wouldn't I just love to hear the President make the speech as outlined in this article.

I received this in an email, and decided it needed to be shared. I do not agree with everything in this piece, but I do wonder why such a spectacular series of raids to enforce our laws and defend our citizens is met with such vitrol by the mainstream media and by a gigantic "yawn" at Fox News. In regards to the Swift Packing Plant raids, if we were in fact a nation of laws our president, George W. Bush would have had a press conference this evening in prime time television. And probably another one tomorrow night. And maybe the next. FOX news channel would be talking about this exclusively all day long tomorrow and for days to come. Others would follow. Bush would have the Vice President, the Speaker of the house, Ted Kennedy of course, Nancy Pelosi, et al: standing behind him with the grim determined expressions on their faces. They would all applaud his comments and later be making statements to the press, as many press conferences as they could muster. Bush would be announcing the arrests of the invader criminals, arrested with false social security cards, a threat to the system, birth certificates and whatever else they were using to allow them to work undetected for years in our country. Bush would recognize the "Top Dogs" of ICE, immigration, all other federal agencies and their assistants and telling them what an outstanding job they did (they would all get letters in their personnel files for a job well done and some would be presented awards, placards, pins and medals. I know, I've been there), he would also compliment the local law enforcement agencies and thank them for their help, the one's that did. Bush would be saying something about securing and protecting our social security system for our great retired Patriotic Americans who have followed the rule of law throughout their lives, have fought in wars for the security of our nation which the politicians are apparently willing to give away, all in the name of votes, minority dependence, big money and whatever else their selfish reasons may be instead of what they were elected to do in the preservation of our country as we know it. Bush would say, there are but two parties, Patriots and Traitors! He would announce how we will go after all employer's who hire these invader criminals, we will go after landlords he would say, we will go after anyone who breaks the laws of our nation he would say, we will cut off all social programs to these criminal invaders he would say and they will go back the way they came he would say. We did not import them (a lie) and we do not have to deport them he would say. They will simply go home he would say! WE ARE A NATION OF LAWS! he would say. This illegal immigration invasion is an act of aggression he would say. The country of Mexico and all the others will have to take care of their own he would say. They must go home! he would say. Our sworn duties, he would say, as elected officials is to secure our borders and our nation from foreign invaders and terrorist for the security of our nation of laws, for the future of our children the same as fighting the war on terrorism in Afganistan, Iraq and the Middle East. He would give an eloquent speech. We would all have goose bumps and be proud. Our goose bumps would have goose bumps because we would be so proud. Chills would go up and down our little spines. We would be proud American Citizen Patriots as we were under Ronald Reagan when the wall came down, John Kennedy when the Russians backed down with the Communist Dictator Castro and Harry Truman who bombed us out of World War II.

Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, and even Combs and all of the others would be gushing over Bushes leadership and patriotism and this is all they would talk about for weeks on end as the news would show the hordes of people leaving our country by whatever means. There would be talk of a "third term". More lost jobs for Americans, wages back to where they belong they would say. Our Social Security system is now safe they would say.

The media would be talking to the illegals as well, the one's not in our overcrowded jails and they would be saying what terrible people we are to not absorb their families, the millions of criminal invaders into our social systems that they would and could bankrupt the same as Skilling, you know, as in the Enron debacle. At how terrible we are to ruin their Christmas season and not to let them pursue a better life because "we are just good hard working people looking for a better life"! You should ignore the fact that we break the law coming to your country even though all of you "Gringo's" have to obey the laws of your land or immediately go to jail.

The Mexican President would be denouncing the United States (especially the "has been" Vicente Fox) for sending all of the poor hard working people home for the Mexican Government to have to deal with, all 12% of the hardened felon criminals home, and all the rest. The Mexican government as well as others would have to do their job and take care of their own instead of us Americans or, they would just go along the way they do with their criminal governments with business as usual in their "Third World Countries". Ignoring their people as our government has been ignoring us on the matters of THE INVASION and criminal illegals. Heads of all of the organizations would be angry, what will happen to our membership they would ask? Less members, less butts in the pews! (somebody had to say it!, I will) No matter the security of our nation, our American citizens, it's all about what their smaller memberships or cash flow would mean to them. The big money guys, the lobbists, the huge corporations and some not so huge who donate to all political parties, the endowments, the foundations, all 12% of the special interests groups, and lets not forget the Skulls of which George W and George H W both belong. I think you might agree that we have been witnessing major censorship by the media for the last few years, first hand for some time in the area of illegal immigration. Let's see: Russian President who may or may not ignore the Constitution and stay in office past the term limits, allying with those countries who are enemies of the United States, nationalizing anything in the country that makes a buck,...... shades of the 50's...... this is where I came in.......

Cripes! 9', 500 lb dead shark washed up on the beach in Corpus Christi, TX. Holy moly!!

A 22 year old Rockford IL man who had recently converted to Islam was arrested yesterday and charged with planning to "... commit acts of violent jihad against targets in the United States as well as commit other crimes." Apparently, the plan began with an attack on 12/22, the Friday before Christmas, when he was to set off hand grenades at a shopping mall.

Great. Home grown nut jobs. Wonderful. However, major kudos to the FBI for thwarting yet another terrorist plot.

A swarm of Microsoft lobbyists -- surely reeking of musty giant wads of campaign contributions -- buzzed and stung their way through Senate offices Wednesday, demanding that they and others of their ilk be given hundreds of thousands more foreign workers next year.

Tell your Senators to NOT let Sen. Cornyn's bill come up on the floor for any kind of discussion.

BACKGROUND:

Americans had been assured that the clock had already run out on this kind of trick play. Congress was supposed to be in session this week just to pass a Continuing Resolution to keep the federal government funded.

But high tech's lobbyists -- desperate to continue to hold down their industries wages with foreign labor -- have stopped the legislative clock.

A team of Microsoft blockers, tackles and fleet-footed lobbyists (10 of them!) roamed the Senate hallways Wednesday looking for a way to score on their usual last-minute, rule-breaking, end-of-Congress style.

Many times in recent years, Microsoft and other tech lobbyists have managed to sneak major H-1B increases into legislation just as Con gress was leaving town.

Since being publicly embarrassed in the late 1990s by debating the merits of this kind of legislation publicly, Congress has declined to pass these H-1B visa increases in the light of day (i.e., with standard debate and usual voting procedures).

But nearly all Hill staffers we've spoken with told us they had received assurances from congressional leaders that no such tactics would be forthcoming this year.

On Tuesday, Senate staffers were stunned to see Sen. Cornyn suddenly emerge as the person willing to bring shame on himself by carrying the Robber Barons' water and force his pet project ahead of all others.

We sent an email to all our members last Friday, asking for steady pressure on Senators to make sure they knew public sentiment in case something like this happened.

Then, Tuesday afternoon, we got word that Sen. Cornyn was trying to ram his bill onto the Senate floor. We went to our members in states whose Senators often fight for American workers against foreign labor importation. We stirred up a flurry of phone calls.

We were pleased that, by late Tuesday, many of those Senators had placed "holds" on Sen. Cornyn's bill. Nevertheless, those holds tend to only slow the process down for a while and can be lifted if Senate leadership so chooses. The word we had late Wednesday was that the "holds" were breaking as Microsoft's lobbyists gathered more support.

Well, it is a very cold morning in North Central Texas.... 22 degrees. The high is only to be in the mid-40's. However, the sky is crystal clear, so it should be a beautiful day. I'm sure hoping Cowboy doesn't have a lot of outside tasks lined up for us. I'm thinking it might be a good day for a fire in the fireplace and reading a good book.

Interesting aside: Apparently, the offed ex-Russian spy, Alexander Litvinenko, was not only working against Russian interests in Chechnya and Iran, but he converted to Islam while in the hospital shortly before his death. Sadly, because of the radioactivity contained in his corpse, the Muslim funeral service was held sans corpse. My gosh! We certainly wouldn't want a mosque contaminated with radioactivity.

This is rich. Apparently, former President Clinton, while giving a talk at The Hague on global warming, could not resist putting in his two cents' worth on the results of the Iraq Study Group, on which he is as qualified to speak as he is on global warming. He indicated that talks with Iran and Syria could "ease the bloodletting Iraq" and that it would also be in Tehran's interest, followed by the statement, "Right now the Iranians don't want to do anything" because the Iranians are enjoying giving "America heartburn." Huh? We should talk to them, but they have no reason to want to talk to us? Sheesh! Next he compared the situation in Iraq to Bosnia. You will recall, that Bosnia really is synonomous with the word "quagmire", not to mention we had no particular reason to get involved in anything in the former Yugoslavia.

OK. Let's see. From the President who gave our nuclear technology to China and North Korea, who did absolutely nothing when Americans and American interests were attacked overseas, who repeatedly tried to sell out Israel to the Palestinians, who hamstrung our intelligence agencies, and who was the absolute worst President since Jimmy Carter, he has the audacity to comment on the war in Iraq? I suppose he got some good sound bites to give our enemies more ammunition against our current President, but true to form, he continually contradicted himself. That is what happens when you don't really believe in anything. The word is "equivocating."

Pearl Harbor Day, the Red Dress & Onions

Pearl Harbor Day. Again. In our family, we have a tradition of watching Tora, Tora, Tora every December 7th. I wish our nation was as united today against the terrorist barbarians who want to destroy our way of life and kill us, as it was this day in 1941. Powerline and Victor Davis Hanson have some thought-provoking commentary on the subject.

Well, phooey! Of the variety of raw veggies at Taco Bell, you might know that my decades-long stand-by, a mild bean burrito with extra onions, would involve the one e-coli tainted vegetable found at Taco Bell. Drat, drat and double drat!

Although it is not unheard of, a tornado touching down in London is very, very rare. For those of us who routinely live under the threat of big and bad tornadoes, this one sounded more like a dust devil, but it did do some damage. Of course, you've gotta remember that the building in the picture was most likely pretty old.

Oh my gosh! The horror!! Three women attended a White House party wearing the identical $8,500 dress that the First Lady was wearing. OK. Setting aside the most obvious question involving why the hell anyone would pay $8,500 for a dress, and the whole part about how much money the designer made on that particular design at that particular party, well....moving on. I'm just thinking, that if those women had shopped at Foley's, Macy's, Second Hand Rose, or Goodwill, each outfit would likely have been an original design at that party, and at a fraction of the cost of the apparently mass-produced designer dress. It would be a cold day in hell before I would spend even $300 for a dress, much less $8,500!!! Of course, this is coming from someone who got married wearing a sweater, jeans and cowboy boots, so perhaps I am not the ideal fashion commentator. In all fairness, the dress all 4 women wore was spectacular, but then again........ it certainly should have been at that price!!!

Wow! In a bizarre parallel universe kind of twist, the incoming chair of the House Intelligence Committee (they should really think of a better name for this committee of moroons), Sylvestre Reyes, has changed his position on Iraq, from voting against the war resolution and advocating "cut and run", to increasing the troop strength 20 to 30,000 and "distancing himself from many of his Democratic colleages who have called for fixed timetables for the withdrawal of U.S. troops."

So let me get this straight. If the Democrats say a war is ok, then it is ok with the liberals and the media. When the Republicans say we need to protect our country by going wherever in the world we must to fight and kill those who attacked our country and killed thousands of our citizens, that is abhorrent to the liberals and the media. No media bias here.

Now, I can just hardly wait to read the brilliant recommendations made by the bipartisan Iraq Study Group, when they are released today. The Washington Post article this morning indicates that the group has concluded that we have lost the war, the region is in chaos, and we need to sell out Israel. Who elected these guys to anything? What a bunch of defeatist Bozos! Especially intriguing is the part about negotiations with Syrian and Iran. Hello? Aren't they the major problem with Iraq? Isn't Syria facilitating transport of terrorists and weapons into Iraq? Isn't Iran paying for the terrorists and their weapons, as well as training said terrorists in the use of said weapons? So sorry.... head spinning.... this does not make sense..... these people are idiots!

Here are some interesting statistics for you to consider this morning:

Up to 9.4 percent of the all persons born in Mexico were living in the United States in 2005, according to the report. In the same year, 14 percent of Mexican workers had jobs on U.S. soil, compared to 2.5 percent of Canadians.

Based on data from the Census Bureau 2006 Current Population Survey, Batalova found that Mexicans accounted for nearly one-third of the 22.6 million foreign-born workers in the United States, or almost 5 percent of the total civilian labor force.

More than 11 million illegal immigrants, most of them from Mexico, live in the United States, according to the Pew Hispanic Center, another think tank in Washington that follows immigration trends.

Now add to that these statistics:

As documented in Illegal Alien Crime Wave in Full Swing, in April 2005, the GAO released a report on a study of 55,322 illegal aliens incarcerated in federal, state, and local facilities during 2003. It found the following:

Â· Of the 55,322 illegal aliens studied, researchers found that they were arrested a total of 459,614 times, averaging about 8 arrests per illegal alien

Â· They were arrested for a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses, averaging about 13 offenses per illegal alien.

Â· 36% had been arrested on at least 5 prior occasions; 22%, 2 to 4 times; and only 12% once.

Â· 49% had previously been convicted of a felony: 20% of a drug offense; 18%, a violent offense; and 11%, other felony offenses.

Â· 56% of those charged with a reentry offense had previously been convicted on at least 5 prior occasions.

Â· 81% of the arrests occurred after 1990

Â· Defendants charged with unlawful reentry had the most extensive criminal histories. 90% had been previously arrested. Of those with a prior arrest, 50% had been arrested for violent or drug-related felonies.

Plus this from Rep. Steven King of Iowa:

Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to statistics released by Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa. If those numbers are correct, it translates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens. That's 21,900 since Sept. 11, 2001.

Total U.S. troop deaths in Iraq as of last week were reported at 2,863. Total U.S. troop deaths in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan during the five years of the Afghan campaign are currently at 289, according to the Department of Defense.
But the carnage wrought by illegal alien murderers represents only a fraction of the pool of blood spilled by American citizens as a result of an open border and un-enforced immigration laws.

While King reports 12 Americans are murdered daily by illegal aliens, he says 13 are killed by drunk illegal alien drivers – for another annual death toll of 4,745. That's 23,725 since Sept. 11, 2001.

So, it looks like it is safer for an American to be fighting terrorists in Iraq than to drive down illegal alien infested roads in America to Taco Bell for a snack.

Weather report from north central Texas: clear and cold. Supposed to get into the 60's today, so it should be a gorgeous day. Please keep Cowgirl in your prayers today as she will risk it all journeying north on I-35 today in amongst all the tractor-trailer rigs generally going about 80 mph, bumper-to-bumper. A true nail-biter of a trip.

Well, the Drudge Report this morning is a bust for much of anything to write about.

I did enjoy the x-ray of the armed hunk. The x-ray really shows all the weapons clearly. As far as I'm concerned, if that is what it takes to properly screen passengers at the airport, then so be it. The flying public can simply choose whether or not they want to fly under the terms and conditions of necessary security measures. Pretty simple, really.

Reuters report on the President not routinely discussing his job with his father.... yawn, another non-story from al-Reuters. My dad, brother and I were all lawyers, but we didn't talk law when we got together. In fact, we avoided it like the plague. The only problem we had was when we went out to eat. We all fought over the place at the table with it's back to the wall. Round tables in the corner worked out best.

Apparently, in the bus shelters in San Francisco, in an effort to sell milk, the shelters are being scented with the smell of cookies. Aren't bus shelters kinda.... well.... open air? I'm wondering how you could smell the cookie scent while being overwhelmed with the smell of exhaust? It must make sense. People are sooo much smarter in California.

Moving along... Captain Ed has a good post on the CAIR v. Prager feud, writing that,

"Yesterday CAIR issued a statement demanding the removal of Dennis Prager from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council for a matter completely unrelated to the Holocaust. Prager had objected to newly-elected Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison's plans to use a Qur'an for his oath of office rather than the Bible."

No matter what your personal opinion of using the Qur'an rather than the Bible to swear an oath of office in the United States, the point that I'd like to make is that CAIR is certainly getting very visible and "in-your-face." First we have the bizarre Traveling Imam charade, and now this. Let's just look to Western Europe and the U.K. to see how this whole thing of letting Muslims have control in formerly democratic countries is working out. Reality check time, folks. If you haven't been to London lately, let me just tell you, it doesn't feel like you are in London. I haven't been to France in a while, but if you keep up with the news stories, all those "youths" setting the country ablaze and killing Jews and anyone else who gets in their way, are not what we normally think of as "the French."

The good Captain has another tidbit I've not heard about elsewhere, having to do with Kim Jong-Il of North Korea running a state sponsored insurance scam. What will that sneaky little bugger think of next. First the counterfeiting of US currency and now killing his citizens, and the state falsifying the cause of death, and filing insurance claims against manufacturers of the products which are the alleged cause of death. Pathetic.... but sneaky....

Good Morning! Clear skies last night brought the temps way down. It's 26 degrees here this morning. When I let the Cowdogs out, they ran away (as usual), but returned very quickly once they realized how cold it is.

Going through the Drudge Report, there are a few interesting items:

Jimmy Carter talks of funeral plans - sorry to be so harsh, but the sooner the better. I used to think he was a good person, just completely wrong about every single thing. Now I think he is a traitor, a socialist, the epitome of anti-American liberalism. No doubt the people of Venezuela adore him for certifying the previous bogus elections allowing their country and treasury to be taken over by the crazed dictator Hugo Chavez. Then there is that nuclear technology in exchange for nothing deal that he worked out with North Korea during the Clinton administration. That worked out well. Yep, the sooner the better.

Hilary Clinton may or may not be running for President in 08. No news there. If she does, liquidate your bank accounts, stock up on weapons and ammo, and head for the hills.

Muslims want prayer rooms in airports. This might suprise you, but I don't have a problem with that. Maybe we can get Jimmy Carter to get the Russians to agree to a polonium-210 in exchange for nothing deal, and we can put that into an air freshener in the prayer rooms. Are we just going to give our country away to any group who squeals the loudest? Especially a group whose leaders have repeatedly said they plan to conquer our country and kill us? For Pete's sake! Quit giving in to these people! What part of "they want to kill us" do people not understand???

The Jerusalem Post reports that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh held talks in Doha, Qatar on Friday about which the Islamic Republic News Agency reported Saturday Ahmadinejad saying, "As everybody knows, the Zionist regime was created to establish dominion of arrogant states over the region and to enable the enemy to penetrate the heart Muslim land." and also commenting that "the Israeli regime was inherently a "threat," and was "on the verge of disappearing"

I have two questions and one comment on this article:
A. Don't we have anyone in Qatar who could have taken these two bad guys out? Do we really have Black Ops, or is that just a fiction for books and movies?
B. I've got it from a very reliable source (that would be God, as stated numerous times in his best-seller, The Bible), that Israel ain't going away, but Persia is gonna get its ass kicked. Works for me. Maybe we will really luck out, and Jimmy Carter will be in Iran at the time, trying once again to broker a sellout of America and Israel.

But, all is not lost. Read Thomas Sowell's post today entitled "Flickering Signs." It is well worth the read.

Today is a perfectly gorgeous day in north central Texas. The temp is 42, with a wind chill at 34, but the skies are crystal clear. Tonight, the temp is supposed to drop into the mid-20's. Brrr!! Cowboy made a stick-to-your-ribs (and hips) Shepherd's Pie for dinner, and it was yummy comfort food on a cold day. Since I am now too full to do anything else, I found some more interesting bits and pieces to post.

DEBKAfile Exclusive: The Palestinian terrorist band heading for attacks on Israeli holidaymakers in Sinai is the same group which kidnapped Gilead Shalit on June 25. The story goes on to say "It is a joint Hamas-Jihad Islami- Popular Resistance Committees team plus members of the Islamic Army (aka al Qaeda-Palestine)", who are hooking up with a "large al Qaeda force of 70 men, which infiltrated Sinai on July 31 and has not yet struck,....... suggesting that al Qaeda may be holding its fire until the winter holiday season which begins with the eight-day Jewish Channukah starting on Dec. 16, followed eight days later by Christmas, when many thousands of foreign and Israeli tourists usually crowd Sinai’s beaches and hotels.

I'm thinking I would not enjoy holiday travel in Israel.

Why We Should Pay Close Attentions to the Russians & More on the Traveling Imams

While the offing (not to be confused with the recent American tradition of outing) of Russian dissenters has no real effect on us here in the States, perhaps one should step back and view the larger picture here. If President Putin has actually ordered the offing of his critics, the question is "Why?" My guess is that we shall soon witness the attempted rise of the Big Russian Bear, complete with rigged or no elections, dictator, dispensing of the Constitution, and increased strongman posturing to return to the international stage in superpower status.

Remember, this country was presumably our ally, leading up to the invasion of Iraq.....only to find out later that they were up to their neck in the double-dealing Oil for Food Scam. Now, we know they are building nuclear facilities for the Iranians, who have pledged to kill us. How is your comfort quotient with the Russians doing about now?

How would this be possible for a country with high unemployment, a crappy economy, nothing anyone wants to buy, except for nuclear technology and unstable, aging nuclear weapons, and oil. Funny how you never hear much about Russian oil. OK, so the government has oil revenue from an oil industry that has been nationalized. That would enable the government to have a good amount of liquid assets to purchase whatever they need for the military. You know there's no trickle down economics there, so that the Russian people benefit from the oil revenue. But, my guess is the big money is coming from the oil rich terrorist countries of the Middle East, purchasing as much weapons grade nuclear material as fast as they can, along with old Cold War era nukes. Obviously, the Russians are now experimenting with other weapons of mass destruction, as evidenced by the recent poisonings in the UK. That does, and will, affect us, and the world in general. You know this isn't going to work out well for the Russian civilians, but it isn't going to work out too well for the rest of us either. Better watch closely how this all unfolds.

More on the Traveling Imams

Powerline (http://powerlineblog.com/archives/016093.php) has a good compliation on the Traveling Imams Story. My take on the whole thing, is they set out to terrorize the other passengers and flight crew just by their behavior. The airline acted appropriately under the circumstances, although I would not have had a problem with Federal Air Marshals, or even the passengers beating the crap out of those guys. This only requires use of the "reasonable person test." A reasonable person would see the TI's acting like hijackers, and either alert the flight crew, or spring into action and disable them. Also using the reasonable person test, a reasonable Muslim cleric (although I have no proof there is such a creature), would not draw attention to themselves in that way, knowing that there is a very good chance they will either get: (a) the crap beat out of them by other passengers, or (b) removed from the airplane. The fault in this instance is squarely on the TI's who chose to terrorize their fellow passengers.

Well, there was more I was hoping to muse upon this morning, but Cowboy is home today, and that means constant interruptions, so rather than turn the dogs on him, I'll just not bother trying to do anything other than be available to carry and fetch (should he be repairing something), or turn myself into a human gate (should he decide to move the cattle), or whatever else is required for his project du jour.

Department of Justice "Unaware" of Congressional Request to Investigate the Prosecution of Two Border Patrol Agents

During the last year, Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean were criminally prosecuted, convicted, and sentenced to serve years in prison for doing their job - protecting America from drug and illegal alien smugglers at our southern border. Those who have been following the case with us have been dismayed at the injustice of criminally prosecuting border patrol agents while granting immunity to a drug smuggler, who was carrying 743 pounds of marijuana into the U.S., to testify against the agents. The smuggler - who received medical care at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas - is now suing the Border Patrol for $5 million for violating his civil rights.

For months FAIR has been working with members of Congress to raise awareness of this case. One member who has been leading the charge is Congressman Walter Jones (R-NC). Over the past four months, Congressman Jones has written seven letters to the Bush administration regarding the Ramos and Compean case: three to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, one to Press Secretary Tony Snow, and three to President Bush himself. Indeed, one of the letters sent to Attorney General Gonzales was signed by 22 members of Congress; another by six members. However, during a radio interview on The Keith Larson Show (WBT Charlotte) this week, Attorney General Gonzales stated that he was "unaware" of the Congressman's letters.

However it may be that Attorney General Gonzales has not seen these letters, this inattention to the plight of two Border Patrol agents who risked their lives daily to protect our country from smugglers bringing drugs, guns, and illegal aliens into our country is unacceptable.

Agents Ramos and Compean have been ordered to surrender to federal authorities on January 17th, 2007 to begin serving their prison sentences.
